Switch to EON -CEC deal

Malc - you have an issue with the personalised web site accepting/showing the leccy readings as you have explained - but MORE importantly, even tho' I've given the opening reading over the phone and had it confirmed manually, EON aren't passing it on to the previous supplier - who won't accept my "final"read as they want yours thru the "approved" route !!
There are obviously hordes of us who switched via MSE -many of whom will have large credit balances with previous suppliers which they want back asap !!:(
Prepare yourselves for a flood of formal complaints early in the New Year if it isn't sorted.0 -
i switched to eon through this site as moving had tenancy at new address since 27th oct but am awaiting funds to move in. keep getting bills to the occupier for old tenant. rang eon about this they say i have not been logged as a customer yet? but i applied 4 weeks ago. my estimated bills just for me are 170.00 for gas 78.00 electric from 27th oct to present yet have not even moved in yet? how do i find out if this switch even in process if eon have not got me down as a customer?
Hello katonia
Sounds like responsibility for the property hasn't been transferred to you yet.
Have you spoken to our Home Moves team and given them details of the change of responsibility, including meter readings and a forwarding address for the previous tenant?
If you have, the account for the previous occupant will have been closed and a new one opened for you from 27 October onwards.
Is a letting agency/landlord involved? If yes, they or the previous tenant may have contacted us. If they didn't give us your details, the old account may have been closed and a new one opened in the name of the occupier. This would explain bills addressed to the occupier.
Don't worry, if this is the case, it can be sorted if you let us have details of the change of responsibility. You can do this online if you prefer. If possible, meter readings for the changeover date would be good. Letting agent/landlord may have these if you weren't able to take them on 27 October.
Once the account is set up in your name, let us have up to date meter readings. We can bill the account accurately based on the usage since you took on responsibility. I suspect the estimated bills you've received are based on usage before you took over so could be way out, particularly as you haven't moved in yet.
I do understand the estimated bills you've seen are a concern. Re-billing will give a more accurate picture. You can also save a bit more by setting up a Monthly Direct Debit. There's lower daily standing charges for paying this way (about £35 per fuel per year).
Sorry for all the speculation katonia but hope this points you in the right direction. Hope all goes smoothly when you move in.

Have had a positive reply from Help-link. So Eon's should follow.
Will now watch to see if all goes well on 18th December.
Glad to know that Malc did not have to step in.0 -
Having been emailed for my Electricity reading by 10th and being unable to input I got through by phone on Wednesday and gave both Gas and Electricity readings and was informed that everything was now in order.
Just received another email asking for my Gas reading at 10th December which they already have but and is showing on my account. No sign of the Electricity one though and will not accept today's reading!0 -
All_savings_count wrote: »Utterly frustrated with Eon/Help-link Eon's website implies that their complaints process is simple BEWARE it is not! I am querying their installation process of boiler, but as my query concerns their subcontracted surveyors they do not appear to be able to help me, they refer me back to Help-link, the surveyors. I have been told that I have to pay 450 pounds for scaffolding as i am on third floor to fit a flue externally whereas the manufacturer states that the technology exists for it to be fitted internally.
Their surveyor aware but his company's policy is to use scaffolding. I still await to hear, but am so frustrated.All_savings_count wrote: »Have had a positive reply from Help-link. So Eon's should follow.

Hi All savings count and welcome to the Forums.
I'm sorry we've caused you frustration. May I ask, is the boiler installation being done under the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme?
If it is, you should've been made aware of any additional expenses, like scaffolding, during your home visit.
We've a specialist team looking after ECO jobs. If you still have concerns, these are the advisors to speak with. Contact details will be on the correspondence we've sent about this.
Alternatively, if you drop an email to the address in my Profile, I'll be happy to put you in touch with them.
Hope this helps.

Switched from Scottish Power to Eon via the CEC Group switch on 7/11, registered online acct on 17/11 & was given 2 dates for meter readings. Submitted gas reading on 5/12 but system unable to accept elec reading (due by 12/12). Phoned Eon and was told that they could accept an electricity meter reading if I agreed to a different (higher) tariff - which I declined. Tried to login to my account today but my login details now not recognised. What's going on?0

Hi brewerdave
Seems to be a bit of confusion over what's happening with meter readings once we've received them. Thought it might help if I explain.
Once we've the readings, they'll be sent through to the losing supplier in the usual way. Switches will continue along similar lines as before. Electronic messages will pass between us/losing supplier/third parties (distributors, national databases etc) until the switch is complete.
The problems we're having when customers try to enter meter readings online will only have an impact if the readings aren't sent another way. We've put a message on the website to let customers know to phone the dedicated team. They can email, too, if preferable.
After a time, if we haven't received readings, we'll use estimates.
As you've given us your readings brewerdave, these will be sent to your old supplier as above. I can't speak for other suppliers but, when we lose accounts, we aim for the final bill to be sent within 30 days of the completion date. Many are earlier. It's usually when we have to use estimates that times go out.
Hope this helps.

Hi malc; Thanks for popping your head above the parapet!! You are earning whatever EON pay you this week!!!:T Its a pleasure to actually have some feedback on this forum when other suppliers are conspicuous by their absence:rotfl:
I understand the transfer process -but in my case the issue seems to be that the gas reading HAS been sent (OVO have produced a final statement for gas using the reading I supplied yourselves) but the electric meter reading hasn't reached them yet.
Is it normal for the industry process for the two utilities to be so misaligned ? If it is, how are the industry ever going to meet the 15 day switch (including the 14 day cooling off period!):)0 -
Many thanks for the positive feedback brewerdave. Much appreciated.
Gas and electric switches often complete on different dates. The messages going between the various parties follow different paths depending on the fuel. Some of the third parties are also different and deal with the changes in their own way.
Fingers crossed, the new switching proposals will streamline this activity.
Have a good weekend brewerdave.

Well add me to the list struggling to enter readings on line.
I started a new thread, didn't know about this one, anyway:
OK so I got so feed up with Scottish Power poor customer service & I finally decided to switch. I used MSE and found a deal with Eon I liked. Eon had reasonable feedback so I thought lets give it a go.
Things moved along until towards the end of November when I was expecting a request for meter reading but nothing had arrived, so I thought I've had emails & my account in available on line put them in there. simple yes?
So I put in my electric reading, but the gas wasn't yet up to speed, but no problem electric is in.
left it a week or so & went back to sort gas reading. That was still not ready & there was nothing for the electric, so put that in again. Went back a few times until I was able to put the gas in. In the meantime I had a txt asking for the electric reading? Replied with electric & gas (that was 04/12/2014)
Saturday 13/12/2014 I gets a letter from Eon, BIG BOLD WRITING asking for my electric reading as soon as possible. Then today 15/12/2014 I get another asking for my gas reading by Monday 08/12/2014.
I've just spent 40 mins on the phone (15/12/14) waiting & waiting......waiting......waiting.......etc no one home?
So what is going on, is there a problem with your system such that my on line submissions are not registering, not good for an 'online' account.
Did my txt not arrive??
What is going on?
SteveN
PS. I decided to leave SP because I got feed up when I had to wait 50+ mins on every phone call.0
