Switch to EON -CEC deal

Well..the end of my switching journey approaches - OVO have closed my accounts now to the correct readings, and the EON account seems to be fully operational (altho' I haven't tried to input any readings yet!!) ...and MSE/CEC have acknowledged that the switch is complete :T
I've asked for my ~ £370 credit back -the OVO response was within 14 working days - lets see how good that response is :rotfl:
Looking back it took 36 days from starting switch to switch completion, and another 20 days for the final readings to be agreed.
Not a good omen for the 15 day switch proposal from OFGEM :rotfl:0 -
Despite reassurance from SP and EON that the meter readings have gone through and everything is OK, my EON account says it's still the process of being set up and SP have produced a final gas bill using estimated readings. No final electricity bill yet but it still says the account is 'Live' online.
Funny thing is that MSE Cheap Energy Club have emailed to say the switch is complete! I don't think I will use a collective switch again!!0 -

It's like North Korea, they shoot you in the back when you try to run away. So, when I leave, it needs to be a really good deal to be worth the hassle of over-estimated bills and refunds.
When oil prices have collapsed to US$30 a barrel, the momentum of the speculation should drag down energy futures as well. The dream is a five year fix at £899 for dual fuel, but I will be happy with a three year fix at £999.0 -
Well my switch went through eventually. Slight hiccup with providing the readings but everything was sorted. CS at EON have actually been very good when I had this issue with the readings and every time I was promised a call back I actually got one.
As a bonus I have also received a £150 refund from EDF within 14 days of the account closing0 -
Have to give a good side to this. My switch went through from NPower to EON with no real problems. Ok had an issue with the gas reading, but i messaged EON and they rang me straight back and sorted it out for me.
All moved across and have the refund of about £100 from npower just in time for Christmas
All in all a relatively trouble free experience, and if the customer service stays as good as so far I will be happy.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
As a current Eon customer, I received an acknowledgement from Eon that my switch was made within days of applying in early November. However my CEC account still says switch is still in progress. How do I get this side of the transfer to complete?_____________________________________________Mortgage 1 £80k paid off july 2014Mortgage 2 £213k paid off May 20210

Checked online with EON on Christmas Eve and according to them I seem to be up and running.... :T... however the promised email to confirm has never appeared ... hey ... it's Christmas after all !
No communication from EDF other than the fact they note I have cancelled the Direct Debit. On the basis they helped themselves to another £69 over and above my normal payment, I'm afraid they are not getting to do that again as the account was nearly £300 in credit when the switch was instigated.
Hopefully some people will be back at work on Monday/Tuesday and this will be resolved by EDF.0 -
I switched from n-power, and apart from a few glitches with entering the meter readings, which involved a phone call to a very helpful Eon operator, all went through and my around £300 n-power refund was in my account on Christmas Eve.
Really glad to leave n-power. Their estimates of my future consumption were ridiculous, each month usage was way below their estimate and they just moved the difference to the remaining months and kept uping my DD.
Remember the days when we didnt have to do all this work to get a fair deal? Bring back nationalisation of energy, railways and water ...0 -
I am glad some switches under the collective scheme have gone through; as am existing Eon customer, I thought there would be little problem for me in taking advantage of the collective, however I heard NOTHING after the initial email from CEC and on enquiring today from Eon , they have no record of the switch at all and say it is CEC fault so I am now waiting to hear from CEC.Needless to say, in view of all the comments on this thread I shall not be holding my breath over this transfer!0

Afternoon All
As promised in post 58 above, just thought I'd pop on with an update on the issue we were having before Christmas with entering opening meter readings online.
A temporary fix was put in place by our IT guys on Christmas Eve. From many of the comments above and the contact we're receiving through other channels, it's looking good so far.
These responses are being monitored ready for the permanent fix. This is due to go ahead during the first full week of the New Year. If all continues to go well, this issue should be fully fixed by then.
Many thanks for your patience with this frustrating delay and for letting me know when things have gone smoothly as well as badly. Really appreciated.
Happy New Year to you all.
