  • Hi all!

    First post - be gentle!

My letter says I have until 31 January to cancel, am I missing something?

Also, is it possible to just cancel the TV but keep the rest? the broadband is good for me (70meg is normal) but I can get a better deal on Sky for the channels. Has anyone successfully "carved" up their contract?

    Thanks!

It's something we're looking into now

    TCB - SKY £116 and a £75 credit

Splitting it this way for is cheaper for us

Its an all or nothing cancel, you cannot 'carve up' the contract for your benefit.

VM know how good their BB product is. so either negotiate or cancel is your option.

You have to notify them within a period of time from being notified by them, hence the Jan 31st on the letter

If you cancelled, how soon after could you start again?

I've just joined Virgin using the uSwitch link posted here
    (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/phones/cheap-broadband#virginfibre1)

All installed on the 18th, called today to pay my line rental upfront and the first I notice of anything awry is that they charge me £144, not the £164 advertised in the MSE link.

I called again to query and sure enough my price is changing (wasn't that clear when I joined) - I was told that as the line rental is non-refundable (boolox as I get a 14 day cooling off), but they've credited me £18 so I get 6 months Feb - July at the price I was expecting, plus the £20 I 'saved' on my line rental versus what I was expecting.

Meaning I'm paying about 9p less a month than I thought. Reading these I should have driven a harder bargain :rotfl:

    Just phoned Virgin.

I can "carve up" the contract. Cancel the TV completely and keep the BB and phone.

No extra costs to pay for cancelling:T

After receiving my £5.64 per month increase letter,I called disconnections spoke to a very helpful guy called John and negotiated the following:
    30MB to 50MB Broadband
    New Superhub 2AC

    Existing M+ TV
    Talk Unlimited
    Paid Line Rental Saver

Bill staying the same at £17.01 per month.
I call that good value for money.:money:

We have been awarded an increase of £4.89 per month from Feb. However rang their customer service and they reduced to £3.00 per month for the next 6 months and gave us free sky sports and sky films free for the next free month. Also we already enjoy 100mb broadband.

When our customer loyalty bonus of £12 per month expires in May I will phone them and will try and get a better deal.

I had payed in advance last August for SS & line rental, I was told if you cancel you lose that advance money, so I had nothing to bargain with, but they did reduce bills by £3 PM for 6 months, so £18 better than nothing, I suppose.

I questioned our £12 loyalty bonus. It works out the same price as on the website as to what we are paying now anyway

Threaten to cancel, they will credit the price increase for 12 months usually.
I've just received a letter about a £4.50pm increase, only been with VM for 3 months.

Surely threatening to cancel does not apply to those 'in contract', as you can't leave?
