Thanks for your advice on my situation, Steve.
Quick update on my position: I contacted my credit card company (HSBC) again today and they said that I should be all right because I cancelled the card and X-proto shouldn't be able to take any more than the £2.99 x 2 from my account. If that turns out to be the case, I'll count myself lucky not to have been scammed for the other £190. And I thank everyone on this thread for posting comments because that's what made me call and cancel my credit card immediately. Despite HSBC's reassurance, I still don't feel totally secure about the situation - I don't trust X-proto at all!
I'm so shocked that Trading Standards in Cardiff are so relaxed about this "business". HSBC told me that they can't really alert customers who order with X-proto - it's a matter for Trading Standards as far as they are concerned. As a result it looks like this scam has the potential to steal from a lot more people. Anyone know anyone at Watchdog or in the newspapers who might be interested in running a story? These scamsters need to be exposed as the vile, ruthless outfit they are!0 -

I very nearly got scammed by this thankfully i dont have a credit card and would of had to ask my friend to use hers. But thought i would google it first and this thread came up. Dont know if this is relevant or appropriate on this site as im a newby but i found any hair skin and nail multivitamins work quite well i take the tesco 1s but im assuming other supermarkets are the same. Obviously they arent as dramatic as the results vitahar promised but my hair got stuck at a certain length and they helped me grow it faster.0

Be careful people, there is a follow up call if you have taken up the trial from a company calling themselves the Big Savings Club. The telemarketer will offer you a 21 day preview to use unlimited discounts to high street brands in a saving guide, there is a postage fee of £2.99. The discounts are virtually useless and require another phone call to get them sent, - similar discounts can be gained for free online. If you do not return the savings guide within 21 days you are then charged £69.99 :-(0

The payments kept being taken and I contacted my bank who got them back for me, but they did say that I needed to close down the account that had been fraudulently accessed. As they were unable to give me another account, I had to open a new account with another bank. BEWARE OF ANY OFFER JUST REQUESTING A PAYMENT FOR POSTAGE. These people advertise on trusted sites, I was duped by a similar offer on Facebook.0

I could kick myself for not checking the company out before parting with my credit card details. it wasn't until it was too late that i realised that as well as paying for shipping costs for trial product (not unreasonable) that i found out that from here in after i would be debited £94 per month (... x 2 as i'd ordered both products) until such time as i cancelled my 'order'.
So trading standards, if that is not a scam then what exactly is? I was led to believe that i was ONLY paying via credit card for post and package costs for a free trial product. it wasn't until i'd pressed the enter key that i was given the welcome news that i was now tied into a monthly order, which to cancel involved some convolution. the following is my A to B of what i had to do to get out of this, it may help others in the same position.
1. unlike other people i did receive my free trial product within a week.
2. i phoned the company number and spoke to a rep (who was in Costa Rica). after a 10 minute conversation where the rep tried everything to dissuade me from cancelling, i finally obtained the necessary Return Merchandise Authorisation (RMA) numbers (one for each product). i was told that i would have to ring them again and provide the post office tracking number for the returning product.
3. i filled out the return sticker with the RMA's and (people don't forget) enclosed the order letter with the products as instructed in the small print.
4. i posted the product back by recorded post (£7.50).
5. i again phoned the company the following day and when i eventually got through, I was asked for the order number - which surprise surprise was on the header of the order letter that i'd sent back with the product. fortunately i had written down the order number and was able to provide it.
7. i was then asked for the RMA's and tracking number.
8. It was at this point that i was told that i had fulfilled my obligations and would not be charged anything further.
9. but just in case, i phoned my credit card company (lost/stolen) and told them that i thought my card may be compromised. having explained my sorry saga the card rep put a stop on any further payments to the company ( the £2.99 for postage for each product had already been paid).
So now fingers crossed, i have, at a total cost of £13.48 stopped any further credit card payments to this scam.

Looks like I have fallen for this aswell, thank god I googled it after (although before may have been more sensible).
Rang them straight up, they said they can't stop the order for the free trial going through but that they could stop any further subscription from coming out - I will be expected though, I assume, to pay for the 1st month, should I choose to keep it when the trial bottle comes. I have paid on my debit card - thank god - and so have cleared any other funds other than the postage they've already taken out of that account and I'm going to ring the bank to hopefully stop any further payments going to them that aren't authorised.
Voiced my concern re: trial not arriving and being charged etc. but he said if I haven't received in 3-5 days I should ring them and they will extend the trial period and so I won't be charged.... hmmmm... I'm not convinced but hopefully I can stop anything coming out the bank.
How these people allowed to trade I will never know.
If something seems to good to be true it usually is, when will I ever learn this...... lol..
Anyone above get their problems resolved?0 -
If you read my post on Lifecell anti aging treatment you will see its scam is quite close to the scam for your hair care products. Its the wording in the T & Cs that catch you out. The wording that caught me out was 30 day free trial. Of course the catch is you receive the full 60 day product and you are charged the full cost (189 usd plus repeat orders) if you don't send the cream back within a very tight time period. As with your hair products there is NO FREE TRIAL.
What we all got caught out with is the way they word the offer and T & Cs.
I've learned a very good lesson. You get nothing for free.0
