2nd calling in again if you get a Dragon
I (stupidly) said put some savings for roof and some money aside for business and she jumped on it that not eligible - said I have changed my mind, but not budge
Called in 5 mins later and said just want to keep funds separate and didn't elaborate when pushed and the guy was fine0 -

That would solely depend on whether they credit check you. If they do then it would almost certainly follow the other applications and be referred but they seem to have procedures that allow them not to credit check existing customers if they don't feel the need to. The phone operators now seem to have adopted the policy of credit checking every application (in January I opened a couple by phone without being credit checked), but when I did one in branch I didn't get credit checked - the woman said at the start of the appointment after reviewing my existing accounts that there'd be no credit checking as I'd been an existing customer 'for over 6 months'.0 -

I have no experience of YB or CB and as I am in Northern Ireland, we have no branches here of either bank, meaning my application(s!) will have to be done over the phone. I have several accounts I can switch from (all opened very, very recently
) so will do as many as I can (or have the nerve to do!) - but can I just ask a couple of things from those with experience of this (I promise I have read back through the thread):-
1. Would anyone recommend one over the other? I mean, would I be better applying to YB or applying to CB (I assume once I apply to one, I cannot then apply to the other and therefore all my new accounts must be with the first one?)
2. I have read the T&Cs but just to clarify, does the £1000 have to be paid in one lump, and not made up of several deposits over the course of the relevant period?
3. I was intending to only open basic accounts as I want to avoid a hard credit search - can I open multiples of these or must I choose at least one of the direct/plus etc accounts?
Thanks for taking the time to read
Sorry to quote myselfjust off the phone with CB and was advised I was eligible for all accounts. Went with the Direct as my first one. Is it best to wait until I get some paperwork (i.e. with my customer no. etc) before I apply for account number 2 (and 3 and 4 and so on!) or could I just go ahead tonight and ring to open more? Any thoughts?
Just for my own peace of mind, I asked if the £1000 had to be deposited as a lump sum - he said it could be made up of smaller amounts as long as it totalled £1000 and was within the time period.
Thanks to all for your help.0 -

Would this then mean that there would be no point in me going into the branch as obviously I haven't been a customer with them for long and I assume they will most definitely credit check me based on that?
I'm just wondering if there's an advantage in going to a branch for applications that will most likely get referred.0 -
Did you during any/all of your applications get asked why you needed SO many accounts? and what reasons do you give for opening the accounts. So far I have two and I've used 'savings' and 'bills'
OH has got one CD and has also switched a second account into FD on my referral so we both get the bonus
Just about to go for my third and getting my script together .......
After that I've run out of donor accounts unless I use my Santander 123 .....0 -
In case YB isnt watching could anybody else who has opened mutiple accounts (....I guess greater than two.....) offer their experiences?0
-
Touch wood but I have found it smooth going...nothing negative at all to advise.
The agents on the phone have been helpful and professional. The paperwork received within 5-7 days and the accounts set up and switched over as agreed.
Been a good experience and I am looking forward to spending the incentive money!:T:j:rotfl:
Ps I'm stopping at 10!0 -
Thanks ..... To go back to my questions .... did you have to justify all the accounts and what reasons did u give for needing multiple a/c's?0
-
income from 2nd job
" " investments
" " rental property
" " past self employment
" " carers allowance
etc.
need to keep separate
don't mention 'savings' - not a savings a/c (well, the Direct is - use for that a/c, ie 'savings'
Same reasons for CB and YB. They seem to only mention that ou haveother a/cs with themselves/each0 -
Mortgage, bills, expenses, salary, dividend income, buying/selling shares etc etc0
