There is no need to wait - they will have a record on screen of your previous application.

Once you have a current account direct the next one most go for is a current account plus - which is the standard free account and doesn't pay interest. However while you can only have 1 sole direct account you can in theory have as many plus accounts as you want. If you get bored with the plus account you can ask for a readycash account - their basic cash account. There are two others - control and signature but they have monthly fees.

Have a reason ready and source of funds e.g. going to transfer in salary or savings and will be using it to paying bills/work expenses etc etc.

As for the £1k - you have 31 days from your switch date to pay in it (either as one sum or as many as instalments you like). But the sooner you pay in the full £1k - the sooner you get your £150 - and you can withdraw some/all of it immediately. However I would not recommend that if you are making several applications after opening accounts already - as they might like to see some activity on your existing accounts before agreeing to open others. Just depends who you get on the phone as well - most are very nice at CB/YB but you can get an unhelpful person on occasion.

PS Don't forget your First Trust bank application - their £125 incentive could end at anytime so as an NI resident I would encourage you to go to them as well asap. You can report back to tell us if they are nicer to people with an Ulster accent than they are to some English callers!:D:D

Thank again for your reply - was on hold with CB for an hour last night before giving up so will try again today. I intend to give FT a go later today also - pity their lines only are open between 9am-5pm though. I'll come back with the result of my experience!
  • I haven't yet received my Switch paperwork. When I do will the donor account sort code and account number be sufficient or will I need PAN number and other details from the donor debit card?

I haven't yet received the donor debit cards either, hence my question!?

Yes, if there's a debit card linked to the donor account you will need to enter the details on the switch forms.

Be careful with the forms as, from memory, the 'order' and 'layout' (of sort code and account number) changes from form to form!

Yes - not ideal opening hours at all.

You could pop into an FT branch if one is near - but as is the case north and south of the border the branches only open on weekdays and shut as early as 4.30pm. I sometimes wonder if Irish banks realise people have jobs!:D

My switch has gone through so now just waiting for the incentive and will try and switch elsewhere for anothe incentive. Don't really think much of their Customer service or Intenet Banking etc, so far I must say.

My clydesdale account is now open but the actual switch is not due to happen until the 25th. If I put a £1000 in now will that be enough to satisfy the requirements for the cashback or do I have to wait until the switch completes?

Pay in at least £1000 like a salary or pension, as part of your switch or within 31 days of switch completing.

The above is from their website, I think it only includes amounts transfered over through the swtich and also within 31 days, so I think you may have to wait until switch completes in 6 days to pay in 1000, I might be wrong - but that is how I read it.

The terms imply you must pay the money in AFTER the switch completes. So don't pay it in until 26 Feb to avoid any issues!

You have to wait for the switch to complete "credit your account with at least £1000 within 31 calendar days following your switch completion date". I have so many T&C pages lying around in-laws must think I'm nuts.

It can be done as part of the switch but NOT before switch completion.

    Same applies for YB .
