  • My second application, switching was mentioned but she never took details of the account. Still sent switch documents though.

First application the sort code and account number were the first thing she took.

Well a bit of an odd situation here. My sisters both received the documents today. However, what we didn't notice at first was that they spelt the surname wrong for both of them even though the phonetic alphabet was used and repeated several times. I'm not sure if it was deliberate or a genuine mistake. It was the same advisor who opened the account for both of them though.

I don't think it's much of a problem as you can make the necessary changes and initial it / sign it.

Include a covering letter of what you've done.

To reassure yourself just give them a quick call tomorrow to confirm.

Called to open my last two today. First advisor could not hear me right after taking my account details (very suspicious) and the second one asked me so many questions and kept repeating the questions (maybe to see if i was lying). My reasons were kind of genuine. Anyway he said the accounts were opened successfully. I think I am done.

Im late onto this switching loophole! Looking to do a couple of switches before this offer expires, can two switches (from 2 different donor accounts) be done at the same time? Or are they wise to that?
  • Yes they can...just have two reasons as to the need for two accounts.

I think they know full well why people are applying for multiple accounts! I believe they are more concerned to rule out money launderers so if, as I have, you say you are opening accounts because its such a great incentive they are OK with that.

Two at a time is fine.

I'm beginning to think that the banks themselves are incentivised or have a quota to reach for numbers of customers using the Switching service as the qualifying criteria are so light nowadays.

    Great.

I have Santander and have recently created a single donor account. Would they block me from setting up and switching multiple basic bank accounts in quick succession? or possibly downgrade my 'internal rating'?

I would be keeping my 123 current account with them.

Your question is answered in the incentive T&Cs. Condition 3b from memory.

I know you will think I'm an idiot, but I still don't get it.

If I already have a CB account that I use as my main account, can open a new CB account and switch an external account for it and still qualify for £150? And how many times?

    The terms say:
    3. Offer only available when:
    (a) you open a new Personal or Private current account; or (b) you switch to an existing Personal or Private current account which has been credited with less than an average of £1000 per month over the six month period prior to 17th November 2014, or since you opened that account if that is a shorter period of time.

So you can open a new account and switch an account from another bank to it (3a)
    OR
You can switch from another bank to your existing account IF it has had less than £1000 credited per month in the last 6 months (3b)

As for how many times, have you read this thread?!
