Its been 7 days now since I applied to YB and was promised the paperwork would be sent out to arrive earlier this week.
As of now no paperwork. Do follow up calls make any difference to speed of arrival? I did phone them and ask two days ago and assured it would arrive yesterday!0 -

That happened to me. 10 days after applying I still hadn't recieved the switch pack from Clydesdale so I rang up and I recieved them 2 days later. If anyone needs Clydesdale forms I can scan them, unfortunately don't have Yorkshire.0 -
Yes - not ideal opening hours at all.
You could pop into an FT branch if one is near - but as is the case north and south of the border the branches only open on weekdays and shut as early as 4.30pm. I sometimes wonder if Irish banks realise people have jobs!:D
Well, gave FT a ring just now. Born, raised and still live in NI and was even a customer of theirs 10 years ago, and they still couldn't verify me electronically! CB had no trouble. Will have to pop in branch.
UPDATE: Went to FT branch and it was a bit more of a hullaballoo than I was expecting. I took everything with me that was suggested by the guy on the phone but that still wasn't enough. To verify me, I presented my passport, a landline phone bill and a statement but they also wanted a driving licence (don't drive) and electricity or gas supply account. They also want 3 months' bank statements! I'm not applying for a bleeping mortgage! (Also, I planned to switch an account with £1 in it that has just been opened recently so it would not be possible anyway!) I was with FT years ago and wasn't a fan and tbh I am not that bothered about missing out on this one.0 -
Rang to open 3rd account on main number ....... will put you through to current account opening team...... oh dear..... she gets an automated message saying 'cant put you through due to circumstances beyond our control' (.... too many people trying to open accounts maybe.....)
'Will get someone to call you back......'
I guess i dont believe that from what i've read on here..... i'll call back in 15 mins.......0 -
After recently being faced with 33 pages (currently 35) of replies on the Yorkshire Bank switching thread when I had a question, it occurs to me that we could probably do with a specific thread just to summarise these offers, in the same way that Special_Saver2 does for regular savers.
As an example, a new thread would b opened with #1 summarising the latest offer, including links, and #2 being a list of FAQs; the latter in particular would be updated as and when new information or common questions came to light.
The hard bit of course, is the work. It would probably need a 'panel' of half a dozen or more, unless one or two people were really dedicated (and didn't have a job!).0 -
Finally got my £150 incentive on my (one) Clydesdale switch today. It's been a long haul - started this in the first week of December I think!
Started slow, and then got slower when they 'failed' to do the switch when planned. Never had any explanation for that. But it did eventually happen on the 15th Jan - so today's incentive has appeared roughly 35 days later, which matches other people's experience.
Now waiting on my single switch to the Yorkshire. All paperwork has been sent to them, but no action is apparent yet. I do hope this one will be quicker!0 -
Surprise surprise (re: my post #1397 above..) - it turns out that the 'circumstances beyond their control' ARE simply too many applications and the Clydesdale customer contact centre are no longer able to put calls through to the a/c opening team.
Been promised a call back within 72 hours....
Might change tack as I have a branch of Yorkshire 5 miles away.
Are in branch openings any easier than phone......?
EDIT: DAMN they've closed that branch -nearest one is now 25 miles away..... guess I have to wait for the phone call......0 -

I was on the phone at lunch time to Clydesdale opening a new account. Half way through she apologised and said her system went down and promised to call me back in 10 mins. An hour and a half later I called back to receive the same recorded message.
So much for getting my 6th account before the end of the month0 -
Finally hit a wall today on trying to apply for my umpteenth account.
The operator took all my details, but came back with a "decline" after discussing with his manager.
He said it wasn't as a result of any search ( he hadn't done one), just that I already had too many accounts
Well someone at some point had to say "no" !!
I'll post my number of successful accounts/incentives after they're received/offer period ended
Perhaps they are trying to stop abuse of the system
Unlike others, though, I have always managed to get through with ease on one of their freephone numbers0
