Yorkshire & Clydesdale Banks offering £150 for switching

Very late coming to this so I apologise as it has no doubt been covered but I have spent 30 mins reading through various pages but been able to find the answer.
I have just applied for a Clydesdale and a Yorkshire Direct Current account and I requested to be called on a Monday between 0800 - 1200.
Just so you know, you can only have 1 Direct acc across both banks, but you can have multiples of the others.
.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
Personally I wouldn't wait for a call back...just ring yb on 0800202122
That is what I did call and was told they couldn't do it there and then and I had to wait to be called back on MondayJust so you know, you can only have 1 Direct acc across both banks, but you can have multiples of the others.
Many thanks for that, I didn't know, I had thought it was one per bank, so one Current Account Direct with Clydesdale and another with Yorkshire.
I will just tell whichever calls second that I no longer want another Direct Current Account and will instead ask them to open a Readycash Current Account as that still qualifies for the £150 bonus (I assume the person that calls will be able to do the Readycash Cur. Ac. despite me requesting the call for the Direct Cur. Ac.) - not sure if it can be operated online though as it doesn't say???0 -
Hey guys,
I've just called up today to find out about the 3 additional accounts i applied for last week which got referred to the underwriters, they said that they'd call me back but to no surprise they didn't.
Anyway to get to the important point, the lady i spoke to told me that the 3 extra accounts had all been approved but then began to grill me with questions. She said that i have 5 other accounts and kept asking me why i wanted 8 and asked me one by one what each account was for, how much was going in, where from, how often etc.
She then had to speak to her manager and came back to tell me that she can't give me the 3 extra accounts as 5 is more than enough. She said that they know that many people are trying to take advantage of their offer by opening multiple accounts and they're tightening up on that. I tried to reason with her for ages, as i gave the exact same reasons to the chap last week when applying for the 3 extra accounts and he said it was fine for me to have 8 after a couple of simple questions. In the end, she would have none of it and said that she's going to cancel those additional applications to stop me from having any more accounts and said i'll have to make do with what i have. It's very annoying as it's wasted my time and i've had 3 credit checks for no point at all.
Thought i'll mention this to everyone on here, just as a heads up or warning of what to expect. It may be straight forward to apply for the account, pass the underwriters decision but when they review your application they can still change their minds.0 -

If they really wanted to limit this offer they would have written it into the terms and conditions and into their software so multiple accounts would not payout incentives.
Other banks have switching incentives but they limit them to one per person.
Did you catch her name?
I'm going to hang up if I get her LOL0 -
Hi Moneysavers,
Just got off the phone and opened my 5th CD/YB account.
A Readycash YB for my carers allowance....
As everyone else above me is saying, they are getting strict on criteria etc as some people are supposedly abusing it, with one gentleman having 15 accounts - who could that be eh ;-)
I am having a bit of a problem funding these accounts with the £1000 needed, I have funded the first 2 from TSB faster payment but as these are brand spanking new accounts with no previous history they have both been referred for security validation and I don't fancy doing this for the next 3.
Anyone else having this problem? should I try from a different bank perhaps, instead of TSB?
PS - having an internal struggle to pick up the phone to apply for a 6th account.
Can YB see my CD accounts and Vice Versa?0 -

I opened 2 more on the same call the other day, taking me up to 10...with no referrals.
Guess you got unlucky. Maybe try calling back and see if another agent can help?0 -

Have these new accounts had the switch applied to them because to qualify for the incentive they have to be funded during or after the switch. No point in doing it as soon as the account is open as it won't count.
Hi Mozzy, yes they have. Both switched over with £1 and £5 respectively and after that I have sent a FP from my TSB account for £1000.
The fraud team at TSB inform me it is because the beneficiary (me) has not recieved any Faster Payments in before.
I'd have hated to have gone through all this effort with useless accounts and then to have messed up the Incentive part! Hahaha0 -

Wow you've got up to 10 with no referrals at all! You must have a pretty amazing credit record.
I've had referrals on everything past the 3rd account, which sounds normal from what everyone else on this forum have been saying. I did try calling an hour later to see if i could get someone different to look into the applications and see if i could get them to open it. By sheer luck I think i actually called the same lady from last time haha, so i obviously hung up and tried again. I got through to a guy, who whilst taking my details i could hear a lot of chatter in the background which made me very suspicious. After a slight pause, he said to me you called in an hour ago didn't you? and from then on it was obvious that i wasn't going to get anywhere, as he basically said the same thing as the lady i spoke to earlier.0 -
Well got the call today about the applications on Wednesday and they were declined. I'm assuming this is most likely due to the amount of accounts i've opened in the last month alone, hence the amount of credit searches done. Now I know why people open accounts in advance rather than making a lot of accounts on the spot. To be fair though, most of the accounts were opened back in January and they weren't even for switching.
Oh wells. At least I got 1 account accepted.0
