Answer as posted already, very slim to nil chance.
Every car has some fault eventually, you mention you had a problem with the Toyota, does that mean you didn't have a problem with the Golf? (I'm sure you may have done) obviously you have a had a think about your choice of car, and you shouldn't need to justify to us randoms.
The difference being the toyota was 7 years old and had 80k on clock!!! That was only issue we had with it. No issues with golf bought from new but sold back to VW after a year.0 -

At £170 per month I'd happily swap my Scirocco for a Golf R0 -
Why don't people just clatter around in £500 cars? when it brakes, buy another. Strip broken one, sell parts, scrap shell, make over the original £500..0

Because Mfrs do not sell £500 cars (at the showroom), so somebody 'has' to buy new to create a used car market, perhaps you should correct brake for break before the pedantic grammer police get oin your case (unless it's just me they are after of course).0 -

For private motoring with only me to worry about I'd be happy to do this. Nowadays I have me, Mrs and 2 kids and it's also my work tool for a multi-million pound business. Reliability is key when the cost of a missed flight could run into thousands and the lost business in hundreds of thousands
Hopefully my company funding something better than a £500 car allows those less fortunate than me to grab a bargain in the future0 -
Should have got a Toyota.
Ah yes... Japanese reliability. Oh, hang on a minute...

But in any event, maybe the OP wanted a BMW which, when purchased new, should be free of these defects? So let's not chastise the OP for his choice of purchase, let's try some constructive advice which is what the forum is all about.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You're thinking of the Sale of Goods Act 1979, wherein a consumer has up to 6 years from date of purchase to seek a remedy should a fault occur.

Reject the car after 18 months ? - Not a chance !
We don't know WHEN the fault(s) first materialised. May not of been 18 months. The SOGA clock starts ticking when the fault is first reported.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0
