  • hi, they have done this to me aswell, ring them up and complain they did eventually refund mine, i reclaimed all my charges from them got 2454.00 back then 3 months later after they had started charging me again, bounced dd,s ect i went to fo and got the same amount back again, so they actually repaid my charges twice, bonus
  • The answer is that £28 is for exceeding the overdraft and the £30 is for paying items that took it over the overdraft limit rather that returning them and charging you £38 per item. £30 is referral charge. If they have taken £90 which takes you over your limit then they will charge another £28 maintenance charge for exceeding the limit

  • Hello,

I'me been reading through various posts and i'm slightly confused and wondered if some of you could please help me. I've been looking at trying to reclaim charges on my Natwest Bank account and possibly my Natwest and Virgin credit cards. I've still got my Natwest current account, although looking at changing shortly because i've now realised i can get better off else where. The other thing is that I have since closed my Natwest and Virgin credit cards, approx 12 and 18 months ago but did incure some charges whilst i had the cards dating back to 2004 i think. I need to know the following if someone can please advise:

Can i still register a claim with my Natwest current account given the pending court case or will this be a waste of time?

Can i register a claim with my Natwest and Virgin credit cards dispite my closing the accounts, whats the cut off point?

Is the Court case binding on the credit card action aswell or just the current account bank charges?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and we're getting married next year and any additional money would be a great bonus. Many thanks in advice

Yes, generally it's better to get the claim 'into the system' so start the process.

Yes, you can claim on closed accounts. It's not the closure date that determines the cut off point, but the statute of limitations. Therefore, the charge itself should have been incurred within the last 6 years. Any outside this period will require specialist advice.

No, just current accounts, the OFT already did a review on Credit Cards and asked companies to reduce them. This doesn't mean, you can't still claim the lower value though, as this are still believed not to be the true cost.

    Thanks for your help.

Surely natwest can't charge me £30 if they are the ones that made me overdrawn by taking the £90 out? They could plan it so they put charges on customer accounts at the right time so that it always works in their favour.

Can you tell me if there is a number I can ring to speak to someone about it, who also has the authorisation to stop/credit the charges?

    Thanks
  • The answer I am afraid is yes, they can. Call your local branch to speak to someone but if there is no BANK ERROR in the application of the charges there will be no refund whatsoever. NatWest is getting very strict with Refunds and therefore none will be given.

Hi everyone! I'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong place..but I'm desperate for some help!

On October 5th 2007 I filed to the courts through moneyclaim regarding Bank Charges against Natwest! I received the defence through from cobbetts about a week later and have heard nothing since then! I have had nothing through to say whether my case has been stayed or even which court is dealing with my case. So as you can appreciate I am totally confused as to whats going on! Plus being a full time student, I would like to be given the opportunity to contest a stay if it has been applied due to severe financial hardship!

How do I find out what is happening with my case, who is dealing with it and at what stage it's at????

Is anyone else in the same situation?

Please help! I would be most grateful!

  • Call the court it has been allocated to with the reference number for your case.
