  • Can I still claim back charges if I no longer have a Credit Card with NATWEST as in 2002 I became ill and unable to work ,I had payment protection on it but that only paid the minimum payment for a few months so the interest still went on, eventually I went over my limit and what with charges added and also for late payments I was unable to pay, since 2005 I have an agreement that I pay £5 a month and all interest has stopped but from 2002 to 2005 there must have been many charges so is it worth claiming? If so can anyone please tell me what the address is for Natwest Credit Cards so I can request my past six year’s statements?
    Cheers

My Mint Card starts 4910, so doesn't tally with what you state.

Sorry I can't help you further.
    Reclaims in progress:

    Smile: Claimed £3124 Paid: £3124

First Direct: Claimed £8178 Paid: Court date 14th Aug

  • Thanx I think it is worth a tenner to get old statements and check them, nothing to lose:confused: only a tenner.

    Cheers
  • First of all, off topic, I received a bank transfer from Barclays for over £400 for the full amount I was owed! It took the best part of a year but Eleanor Dangerfield is a real help and plus she sounds very sexy on the phone!

Thank you to Martin and anybody who has helped me make this possible.

Now all that's left is NatWest - claim to the tune of nearly £2k.

I was informed end of last summer that the claim was on hold pending the outcome of the test case.

It took me a while to respond but, as I was really strapped for cash, I send them a letter to inform them that I would be applying formally to the court to have the stay lifted on the grounds of hardship.

They replied with a letter and a Customer Financial Statement form. This confused me because, if they were set in their ways that the charges were fair, then they wouldn't change their mind and give me my money back if I could prove that I was experiencing hardship. I replied saying that if I was to fill in any form to prove my hardship, it would be the official court form (I forgot the name of it) as I felt it was a stalling tactic and would be a waste of time.

They replied again to say that my claim would not even be considered without filling in the form. Well now circumstances have changed for the better and I don't think I would be able to prove I was experiencing hardship.

So... now what? I can't go down the hardship route for now and NatWest are being very stubborn.

Any help as usual would be most welcome. :)
  • Im going to start claiming charges on my boyfriend's old credit card but I need a bit of help. Firstly, he doesn't have a cheque book, so how do I send the £10 payment to request a list of charges? Secondly, Im a bit confused about what to do if the charges are £12. My boyfriend now gets charged £12 for late payments etc so do I ignore those ones & only claim for the earlier charges of over £12?
  • You can send in a postal order or your own cheque if you have a cheque book.

As regards phoning for statements etc please use the first template letter (SAR request) and give your name, any relevant addresses, date of birth and don't phone asking them to trace an account when you don't have the account number as they won't help over the phone.

As regards £12 charges, put in your claim for all the charges then it is up to you when you get an offer from the bank as to what you accept is a fair offer as they will, more than likely, offer only the difference between £12 and any higher charges.

    Hi
Advice needed. Got my bank statement from natwest today. I only have a basic account as when i claimed charges in the past they closed my current account. My statement says i didnt have enough funds in my account at the end of last month to pay b.t £31. Because of this i have been charged £38. I think this is a ridicuoulous ammount for a failed Direct debit. Is there some way of arguing this fee. I dont expect not to be charged but this ammount is more than the original payment. are there any template letters that i can send to argue this. By the way i did have £12.68 in my account at the time so i wasnt totally in the red when it happened.

    Thanks for reading.

Any advice on this would be greatly appriciated. Thanks
  • Hi all

I have been charged over £460 in charges over the last 20 days and am starting the bank charges process.

I have a number which some people may already know to save time writing to Natwest and sending an attached cheque.

I phoned the number and pressed '3' to 'create a new complaint' and spoke to a lady and asked if I could have the charges from the last 6 years on my account. She said thats fine and I hope to receive them in the next 7 -10 days!

    The number is...0845 303 0456

    Hope this helps :D
