  • Ah Beanie, it's like someone's idea of a sick joke here tonight. DS2 just woke up screaming, presumably from a nightmare as he couldn't/wouldn't tell me what was wrong. His screaming then woke up DS1 who then panicked that he'd never get back to sleep and created a fuss of his own, all while I was quietly panicking myself that DH would seizure while left alone downstairs. It's all quiet now, but who knows how long for!

By end 2021 I want CC at £10,000.00
  • Oh love, will you ever catch a break.

It's my fault for joking about the superhero suit being on all the time. I should have stated office hours only so that you got some rest!

So sorry about DH. Worrying in that he is starting new medication, and coming slowly off the other lot. Maybe they need to increase new med more without dropping the old one to keep control. Then again what do I know, I am no doctor.

I sincerely hope that the boys sleep well and DH has no recurrences. Rest assured that you will wake if something happens, as always... and try to relax and sleep.

Ref DS1, I too remember the panic setting in when I used to wake at night when I was his age, that I wouldn't get to sleep. I was tormented by the stupid superstition that there was A: a crocodile under my bed who would snap my feet off if I got in and out.. so I used to take a running jump at the bed each night, especially in the middle of the night and B: with the croc safely navigated I would then fly under the covers with them over my head, and breathe really shallowly to stop the hundreds of teeny tiny soldiers who inhabited my duvet cover from coming up to get me if I moved a muscle. This happened night after night. Whilst it is incredibly frustrating to you, it was completely beyond my control, and I couldn't contain the rising panic. I had a lot to deal with at the time, mum had cancer, big sister was away at Uni, I was being bullied badly, and behind at school. Maybe there is more to his panic than meets the eye? He might be feeling pressure from his dad's seizures and the changes in the household.

Too much for you to cope with once again.

Many hugs and a peaceful night xx

  • Morning!

Lilt, we haven't started reducing med#2 yet. We have to take 8 weeks of building up med#3 before they will start to take anything away. We are just about at the end of week 3 so we've reached 100mg per day of med#3 and the dose they want to aim for as a start is 200mg.

DS1 has this weird phobia about us going to bed before he's asleep. It makes no sense to me at all as we are actually closer to him when asleep upstairs than when downstairs, but I guess it might be more about the white noise/faint lights from downstairs. Also, what is rational when you are 36 is totally different to when you are 10.

Everyone went back to sleep and slept through. However, DH has woken up totally unplugged. He doesn't remember anything about having the seizures, the fact his Mum stayed with him yesterday while I took DS2 to the party, the boys having a disturbed night, nothing:(. I've refused to take him to the gym (obviously) but he's driving me bonkers asking me the same questions over and over again. I feel bad saying it, but I could honestly scream. It's all weighing very heavy :(.

Oh Lucky I am so sorry that you are having an awful time, you are obviously and understandably exhausted:( Is there any chance that MIL could stay with OH for a while and you go and have a sleep at her house?, probably silly idea what with school rune etc, the best I can do is send a bucketful of virtual hugs your way.:)

Fantastic idea Maddiemay - a tired body and brain in stressful situations is not good... Hope you can find some quiet to recharge although I know so hard .... Sending more buckets of hugs

  • Lack of sleep amounts to torture. A well used trick by many prison guards and interrogators. You need to get your sleep... and also get away for a little while. I know MiL would love to help you if she can, so maybe MaddieMay has a great idea there if you don't mind putting it across to MiL.

Really gutted to hear about the meds not even dropping. That would have at least provided some form of answer.

You're very right on the logic of an adult being very different to that of a 10 year old. I can be utterly rational about my nighttime fears now, and yet when I was a kid, I rationalised it during the day but the second it was dark it all became so different and menacing and I forgot any kind of ideas I had whilst it was light. I feel for DS1, but more for you.

Remeber to top up your superstrength somehow hun. Big big virtual hugs! xx
