I am trying to read through the useful information on this site but my brain won't see past this bank statement. A while back I went overdrawn at lloyds by a small amount, and after some talking to the bank, didn' get the full charges on them (I have no idea what charges I did get - they didn't send anything out, jsut took them out the account.) In all I was 29.80 overdrawn on the 15th, I left it a bit late sorting it out because I didn't have any money, but on 24th shoved 30 pounds in the bank, grudgingly - and thought it was all sorted.
Why I was so stupid I have no idea. On 1st may I got 29p interest charge, and this pushed my account overdrawn. I can't even tell from the statement if they are now charging me for this 9p.
But they've charged me 69 pounds. 70 pounds is all I have to live on alot of weeks after my rent goes.
It's a monthly fee - 15 pounds. And 9 daily fees 6 pounds a day = 54
Please someone tell me there is hope of reclaiming it0 -
I would ring them and explain what has happened and ask if, as a goodwill gesture they will repay the charges to you as you cannot afford them and you are struggling to live on the money you have left..
Just be honest, what's the worst they can say?BSC Member 155

Hi everyone who could help me..
During the last days I've been reeding a lot trying to understand my rights. Still everything seems very confusing. My case seems very similar to the others, but I still can't find the right answers.
So I went overdrawn on 04/04 while I was abroad only two weeks later i received a letter informing me about my unplanned overdraft which I immediately went to pay off. But during these days they'd been charging me 6pounds a day so the total was around 80pounds. I rang them up explaining my situation because opening my debet account I refused to have an overdraft option. Plus this was the first time something like this happened to me. Lady on the phone was very understanding and agreed to refund the charges, but for some kind of reasons she didn't have the access so she gave me the address where to send my request.
Now a month later, I've received their final answer that they aren't going to refund the charges refering to a court decision that still hasn't been made. I've found some articles about these legal proceedings with the Office of Fair Trading. Still I can't understand is the law on Lloyds TSB side, at least till the final court decision? Or it is still worth trying make them refund the charges?
The thing that annoys me the most is that I was in the same situation as my housemate, but he solved this situation with one phone call..
Many thanks in advance to those who might help me!!!0 -

The first part of the court hearing is now over and you are free to proceed to claim all charges back. In fact Martin suggests you do it now as there's a backlog and banks will work through cases in order. So start with the letter templates in this section. Then file court papers if no joy.0 -

Hello,
I have decided that I want to reclaim my bank charges. I know there is loads of them as I am really bad with my account. I am with Lloyds TSB and wonder if anyone can help me?
With the recent test case what does this mean to me trying to reclaim the charges?
As stated I have no idea and wonder if anyone at all can me advise on how to go about it.
Thanks

Dear All
I am thinking about trying to reclaim my bank charges, I know, I should have done it earlier!!! I have some questions though.
1. What actual charges can be reclaimed? I understand through the information I have read on here this can be all charges, but do they have to be over a certain amount? i.e. Can I only claim if I was charged £35 for a bounced direct debit or can I claim a £20 charge for an unauthorised overdraft?
2. Would it be adviseable to open a new bank account elsewhere in case LTSB close mine?
3. I have a £600 overdraft on my current account and although I could pay it off I would rather not have to pay it off in one go as it would leave me short.
4. At what stage of the process do LTSB normally give in and refund the money?
5. Generally how long will the process take?
Thanks very much in advance for any help you can provide, I look forward to reading replies.
If you are also an expert on loan PPI, I have posted a thread on the Loans section about this as well!
Thanks again,
MoonCake
