    Hi,

If you have the statements there is no need to send out the 1st letter requesting a list of charges as you already have them. I sent the letter for the claiming with interest to my branch but there is a list of addresses in the article I think which would probably be better.

P.S. I did reclaim my charges succesfully from my bank accounts and credit cards.

No, I got my bank charges refunded before the whole test case issue. I have recently successfully claimed my credit card charges though as these are not on hold.

Until the test case is over, I suspect no one will have any joy reclaiming from banks. However, you can continue to claim from credit cards.

Yes, any bank can cancel any account at any time. They're not obliged to provide you with a service.

    It's a chance you take.

People are recommending that you have another account opened with another bank, and ready to move to, should they chose to close your account.

   OMG back in 2006 i claimed back my charges from lloyds tsb for £730. this left me with £600 left to pay them so i agreed a payment plan of £60 a month to pay it off. i have just checked with them how it was going to find out that there have more charges been applied for 3 months running they since the turn of the year they have charged me £215 a couple of months at £165. and a few at £75 and some @£30 from back end of last year i now owe them £1600. as the payments i have been making have been just about covering the interest. can i claim thses back even though i have already done this.

Generally they won't close your a/c, but if they decide to must give you 30 days notice
    Closing your account

7.6 Under normal circumstances, we will not close your account without giving you at least 30 days’ notice.
Examples of circumstances which are not ‘normal’ include threatening or abusive behaviour towards staff.
7.7 We will not close your account, or threaten to do so, as a response to a valid complaint you have made.

I think banks can close accounts - despite saying they do not do so because of a valid complaint. I think they can use the argument that they are closing an account because of repeatedly going averdrawn or exceeding any overdraft limit.

I thought the banks were warned by the FOS that they weren't to close bank accounts because of a complaint about bank charges, as it was the customers' right to complain.
