Lloyds TSB

  • Hi all

I have a current account with no OD and cancelled all DDs and SDs because I hate Lloyds TSB so as far as I was aware there is no activity.

A £30 transaction came out that my Son set up a year ago which I forgot about.

Lloyds TSB let it go so I was overdrawn. As I don't check this account because I thought it was stagnent I found a charge of £165 added because of no facilty charge.

That has now become £339 and I have been told that I am being charged £20 a day - nice one.

I cannot afford to catch up with this and have told my ex manager that I refuse to pay this as it's a total rip off.

It's impossible to reclaim these as they are going up every day.

Any ideas?? Can I close the account and deal with a debt collector?

please help me .... I HATE Lloyds TSB!!

    Rob
  • I don't know the answer, but have a similar problem. I moved to Australia last year and Alliance & Leicester were quite happy to let me leave my account open with nearly £1000 pounds in it. When I went overdrawn by £12 while trying to settle my credit card & move money etc, they started whacking charges on. Its now up to £460 and I've been writing & phoning them for over a month to stop it. The only conclusion I've reached is to pay it to stop it increasing, then complain & use the templates on here to apply to have it refunded. I've drafted letters to A&L complaints & the Ombudsman. I think they are trying to make up for the fact I never had an overdraft the whole time I had a functioning account with them. Its all about where they can make money out of you.

Hi there. This is my first post on the MSE forums so I'm sorry if it's a bit pointless or if it's been answered elsewhere.

Does anyone know what the current situation is with claims against Lloyds TSB? My Dad should theoretically be able to claim a tidy sum from them, so a while back (before all this test case business) my Mum sent a letter on his behalf (I think she used a template on the BBC website or something), and not a lot happened, then the last they heard was a letter from LTSB explaining that all claims are on hold due to the test case.

However a lot of what I am seeing on these forums seems to suggest that people are now making claims again. Is this right? Do we need to get back on the bank about it? Are claims back on?

Also, my Dad has about £7000 overdraft debt with Lloyds TSB (naughty I know but he's rubbish at money management). How risky is it that if he tries claiming, they will close his account and demand the money back? I know they supposedly have the right to do it, but is it something we really need to worry about?

    Hi
Has anyone had an offer from Lloyds recently in regards to a stayed claim

I ask due to a thread on Legal beagles

    http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/showthread.php?t=9760

    It mentions that

"halifax, lloyds and abbey....seem to be getting offers sent out."

and I was wondering because I would like to see if I can contact them and see if I can get thing moving again on hardship rules
:rotfl: Surely life can't get any worse it has to only get better from hear on out :j

Does anyone know of any cases in particular as I'm trying to find out as much info as possible so that together we might be able to come up with a viable strategy to fight the banks and get some of these hardship cases one of which is myself.
If they are contacting enough people without being contacted by the claimants them we may be able to come up with a strategy.

hi just a simple question, what address to LTSB did everyone send the chargelist/statement request to??
    thanks
  • I've trawled the threads for nearly 6 hrs now and i'am a little wiser, but i only need a few questions answered by any of you bank and LTSB fighters. I'am at stage two of claiming back now and as most have stated LTSB tend to re-word certain charges. Now some threads have said i can claim charges back some threads have said i can't would someone please please please be able to clear up what is a Yes and what is a No.

I do know that O/DRAFT INTEREST is definetly a no no

I think O/DRAFT EXCESS FEE is a yes (is this correct)

    Not sure about

    O/DRAFT USAGE FEE
    UNPAID D/D
    UNPLANNED O/D FEES

Please can someone help me, i'am got too much information overload and i'am getting all confused.

    Mucho appreciated.
  • I wrote to Lloyds TSB Charges Department about 2-3 weeks ago, explaining that I was in financial hardship and they should deal with my case straight away. I asked for a reply within 14 days, but I've heard nothing.

I phoned their 'Phonebank' number today and none of the 3 people I spoke to would even acknowledge that this waiver for people in financial difficulties exists. Has the waiver been removed or altered, or are Lloyds TSB just genuinely pretending it doesn't exist ? I find that ridiculous if they are.

I tried to get a phone number for the Charges Department, but they wouldn't give me one, they suggested I call the number for people in financial difficulty, which I did, pressed the relevant button for charges and was promptly put back through to the 'Phonebank' service which I'd phoned originally. Brilliant.

Does anyone have any info or success stories of hardship claims with Lloyds TSB, or even better, a phone number for this elusive Charges Department ?

    Thanks for your help

To be honest, they are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

I wouldn't bother speaking to LTSB on the phone as they will do anything they can to worm out of the conversation. I suppose this is a bit of a minefield for their staff, so you can hardly blame them for wnating to cover their own backs in the current climate.......

There is a Customer Support Unit (most likely the one you were supposed to be transfered to and they deal with hardship stuff) - but they will only give you advice on amalgamating any debt you have and flatly refuse to talk bank charges; you may get some gubbins about the test case being so everything's on hold, but nothing we don't already know! ;)

    Good Luck.....number below......

    Customer Support Unit 0845 600 4593 (8am - 9pm) Mon - Fri
