  • I was wondering if anyone else has been offered this rather tempting, but thoroughly rotten carrot as a means by the Bank to get you to go away???

I was in the final stages of claiming my bank charges back from Lloyds TSB, the amount being around £4,500 all together and, after much fending off from the Bank, I suddenly got a letter saying they were giving me a "goodwill gesture" of £1,500 (being £750 into both my sole and joint accounts) and upon checking this, there was the money in both accounts. Now when have you ever known a Bank to pay that much money into your account/s so quickly and without any fuss???

If anyone else has had this little ploy used on them, please let me know and if you have not yet, be warned!!!

The Lloyds £750 carrot is very common. It is their standard offer to all claims above £1000.

Standard "goodwill" gesture from Lloyds, you need to write back and accept their offer in part payment and without prejudice and tell them you will be continuing to court for the remainder of your claim. You need to send this recorded delivery and within any time limit they have given you or they will close your claim. Then you need to carry out your threat of filing a court action, do this at your local court rather than online.

The cases are stayed indefinately,........ it all depends on how the test case goes, its sorted in 1 day hearing, then all the back logwill be dealt with, ifs its adjourned pretty likely it will be then as long as it takes.

Sorry couldnt help any more .... its like that time honoured question "how long is a piece of string..." x

Lloyds charged me too. basically I am paying charges on charges. Since they are removing £100 - £200 a month from my account I cannot get out from under it. I emailed the chairman, Eric Daniels, and in the reply was assured my hardship claim would be investigated. Was it hell!!!. They are a bunch of thieving scum! Can anyone tell me when court case is as I am desperate!

    Hi
The court case is think mid Jan, but to be entirely honest the likely hood of it being sorted out in 1 days hearing I wouldnt bet on it,the banks are going tocome upwith a thousand and one excuses and with it being a "test case"- theres likely to be a stay / injuction etc applied.

The way to go now is prepare a sOA (STAMENT OF AFFAIRS)

    List all incomngs / outgoings

eg Statement of Affairs - Joe Bloggs 04.01.08

    Incomings

    Income support : £200 (50.00 per week)
    Child tax credit : £200 (50 00 per week)
    Wotking tax credis

    total all that up

List all outgoings - mortgage / rent, gas elec, water there the staple items, must be paid monthly

    then all the bills etc

    Total

    +/- amount

Send this with a covering letter to thebank(recorded delievery so they can not deny they have recieved it.

Also contact the financial obsbunmen and explain that your going down the financial hardship route, as presently that is the only way that they can assist.

If your wages etc go into this account, obviuosly there going to get swallowed up with charges, and then if you withdraw any your going to end up with umteem charges. Is there any way you can get your money paid into another account while this is going through?

    Hi

I've gone over my overdraft facility for the second time ever (in a row) with Lloyds and have been royally stung. I am normally so organised... I have a vague memory that you can no longer claim back any charges is that right. I've never gone over the limit before so I am not sure. Would appreciate some help

    Thanks
