    hi there,
yes i would keep going when the test case was announced i was at the point where i was just about to submit my claim with moneyclaim online (MCOL) but i had to wait a week (as i didnt have the cash to pay) cos it costs you £120 to do it with MCOL,so in the mean time i sent the next letter stating if they didnt pay i was taking them to court,so they didnt reply so i took them to court paid the £120 and it went ahead, the court acknowledeged that they had received the claim from me but still no reply from lloyds so the next step was to send a bailiff (it cost me £55) with a warrant for the money (£3771.04),it all took about 3 weeks from the court receiving my claim to the bailiffs going with the warrant but i received every penny back on monday i couldnt believe it thought it would take a lot longer,so i would say most definetly go ahead you may be like me and get it back pretty soon but there is a few people who are still waiting but youll never know unless you try
    good luck

  • Had a call one night a month ago saying that we had gone over our overdraft limit by £13, which was ok in a day again. and thought no more of it.
Went shopping and thought i would check online and found out that they charged £60 overdraft excess? And guess what, they have thrown me back over the limit again. Good old lloyds. been with them for 37 years and this is the first time lately we have struggled. Like they say these days you are just a face.:(

Lloyds charged me £700 in one month for bouncing my DD's then they put an advert on tele saying they are the most popular, caring bank.

    Not with me they aren't.

That's 20 separate direct debit bounces. Must have been a bad month - ouch!
Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right! :D
  • I've had this, £60 for going over limits for a brief period on a single occasion and i went in to the branch, got the 'customer service manager' and said I really didn't mind which option she preferred but either I was reimbursed or I changed banks. Also been with them many many years. Guess what? Got the money back. Honestly. But then i really didn't care, as far as I'm concerned, if they don't have loyalty to their long standing customers anymore, then I certainly won't have loyalty to them. Give it a go! Just a note of caution, I run an alternative current account so it really would not have been a problem to change. Good luck.:T
  • About 5 Years ago I ended up owing around £2000 in credit card charges and overdraughts. I have a lloyds TSB Select account, they kindly offered me a loan (I have ended up paying back abt £5000 over 5 yrs). What I want to know is this, I was supposed to have a £50 o/d limit as part of the deal, I pay everything by d/d(on Income support) and sometimes I may go overdrawn for about 12 hours or 24, its not normally above £10. Theyve been charging me 35 each time for the past 5 yrs as an unplanned o/d. Can I reclaim these charges? Roughly about 200 quid a year. I have learned my lesson with credit cards though!!!! Any advice gratefully received!!!! Its driving me bonkers!!!!!
  • Hi,

First thing is to think all the banks are in competition for your money. I have just received a refunded overdraft arrangement fee , but already had one authourised. I would give them a ring and find out for sure if one is in place , if not ask for one, probably a bit more than necessary to allow for timing etc.

Next, put in writing a request for all previous charges to be refunded due to them being unlawful, see Martins template on the main site, with dates and as much actual info as you can give. I got a letter back saying this was being delt with , then got another which said I had been sucessfull but I noticed still a charge - so watch out for that one. I then got on the phone and basically said that banks are now competing and the A & L are offering 6% in credit and 0% on an overdraft in a current account. Remember they want your money and have 'kindly' let you pay through the nose on your loan.

If that all seems to complicated - really it's not - but mainly get an authourised overdraft in place - preferabley with A & L if your bank are going to charge a fee, but you could argue that for only £10 a month for a day - it is a ludicrus amount when you already pay 18% apr for having one.

    Hope this helps
