Don't forget to call all the local animal rescue places like Cat's Protection etc.
Leafleting the village worked for us - I made up about 50 leaflets and DH delivered them. I put a photo on the leaflet asking neighbours to help by checking sheds, garages and outbuildings. About an hour later Nelson came in dusty but none the worse for wear. We think he had been shut in a garage or shed, he was gone for 2 days and we were worried sick.
Also if you google lost pets there are a few registers you can sign up to.
Do hope Daisy comes home soon.It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Our 10 year old, gorgeous female cat has been missing for over 24 hours now. She is completely a house cat, isn't really bothered with going outside except if we are out there/it's a nice day.
My father in law let her out yesterday morning at 10am as she was at the back door and wanted to go out. They then took my 2 children to the park for a couple of hours, and when they got back he went straight to the back door to let her in (she is usually waiting on the fence to be let in).
No sign of her..so he left the back door open all day until I got in from work at about 5pm, still no sign. Cue me getting twitchy as fireworks were starting to go off and she hadn't eaten since the morning.
She didn't come back.
Being out all night is unheard of, she NEVER EVER stays out. I even went out at 4am to see if she was there, and again at 7 and then regularly all day today. No sign.
I have knocked on all the neighbours doors and asked them to keep a look out and check sheds etc. OH is going to make up some leaflets to post through doors, but apart from that there is nothing we can do is there?
I feel like crying. I love her so much and want her to come home so desperately.
I think if she was a male cat or a roamer I wouldn't be so worried, but she is small, old and has a heart murmer. I fear she has been chased or set upon by one of the many bigger cats around here and her heart has packed up
She has a collar and a tag with her name and phone number, but she has been known to lose those. She is chipped with OH's old address (I know), so not much use there.
Can anyone offer me any words of comfort that she might yet return?
Theres a missing pet register, put her details on that. Its nationwide and they have a twitter feed as well. Scent, if you have a blanket with her scent on it, hang it on a washing line, cats can smell scent from a couple of miles away, it may help her to come home if shes lost her way.
My family have always had cats and sadly we have had a couple who got lost and didn't return, but many cats do come back safely and often days and weeks after they go missing, I know what you are going through, its awful but you have to keep your hopes up, if you google what do to if a cat goes missing you'll find other things you can do to try and help her return home safe.0 -
Two things - if she can't get to the road from out the back (ie, she's shut into a strip of gardens), then you know she's there somewhere. I'd go round and knock and ask to look in every person's garden (I've done that before!). Also, empty the contents of your vaccuum cleaner in your garden - the smell drifts and she can pick up the scent.
Chances are that she's scared and hiding and needs some encouragement to come home. She's more likely to be active at dawn and dusk if outside, so call specifically at those times.
I really, really hope she comes home soon. I'd be in pieces.
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
Nothing really to add advice wise, just wanted to send some love and positive thoughts.

Thinking of you and hoping she comes home safely xx0

Not a cat person myself, but I can only imagine what's going through your head as time moves on.
Really hope Daisy makes it back and there's a happy ending.0 -
I hope she finds her way home soon. At least the weather is unusually warm for the time of year so she's not going to be out there in the cold.0

Make sure all the main websites know you're looking:
http://www.animalsearchuk.co.uk/report-a-found-pet.php
http://www.gumtree.com/
and especially any and all of your 'local' facebook groups. Our local fb freecycle group kept our eyes open for a dog that had gone missing, which someone posted, and it's how the dog was eventually found, due to people spotting him here and there around town, they were able to pinpoint search locations for the owner.
As there are many people who walk the parks, take the kids to school, work early/late shift, etc. it's good to get as many eyes as possible to help. People will do so!0 -
Tips to get your kitty home: These ideas are what I advise anyone whose kitty has gone missing, hope they help
Put food outside. If kitty is still in the area, they will no doubt be hungry and come in search for food.
Ask neighbours to check outhouses, garages ect. Cats can easily get locked in without anyone knowing they are there.
if you see your postie, ask them if they have seen your cat. It's amazing what they see on their rounds.
Also if they use a cat litter tray sprinkle the used cat litter on your garden cos they recognise their scent x...0
