  • Hello Diary and Diary Readers!

So sorry it has been a while. Good grief what a week it has been. So after my visit to DM both she and I came down with the most awful cold. I think she gave me her germs when I already had my own. So I got a double whammy. One of my staff called in sick on Saturday so I was in for 4 hours and got really cold. Then my OH and I went to the Eee Eee shop for new phones and new contracts. By having a combined contract we both got cheaper monthly costs and the phones we wanted. Unfortunately, they had issues with their computer system and we were in the shop for a massive FOUR HOURS!!

By Sunday night I was full blown sick as a dog. I called in sick on Monday and went to the Doc on Tuesday. Turns out I have a chest infection. Was off until today. Sadly the OH has caught the bug too but thankfully staggered so I am well enough now to look after him.

Only two more days of work and I am off to see my DM and DA for Christmas. I can't wait!

If I dont get on before. I hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas!!

  • Hi Everyone!!

Hope everyone had an absolutely fantastic Christmas. I had a lovely time with my family but did miss my OH a lot. I can't wait to catch up on your diaries! :j

Well Santa was really good to me this year. My family know how tight money is so I got 6 scratchcards and won £11.00! £40.00 from my DM and a £50 Mr A's voucher from my DA! Als got loads of essentials like cold meds (which are surprisingly expensive!), shampoo, shower gel and deodourant.. (I think I might smell :rotfl:).

It was lovely but not very long and my DM has me worried. She really isn't herself after her dose of flu and I am worried about her. Older people go down hill so fast and I am terrified about that. She is 76 and she seems to have gotten a lot more like her age since she is living alone. I feel terribly guilty. I know the distance really doesn't help. She is coming down for a visit in February though so looking forward to that.

My train journey home on Saturday was an experience! Works done over Christmas were delayed and a lot of the country experienced heavy snow. Well I got my first train without any issue and thankfully decided to nip to the toilet. My next train was so full that I couldn't get to the seat I had booked and they started pushing us on like cattle. It was like the London Underground in rush hour only this was for hours! The people were really good though and everyone tried to help each other out. There were some really unfortunate souls though. One girl had a panic attack from the claustrophobia and had to battle the crowds to get to a very empty first class. On my next train (there were three), it was the same again. Over crowding. People had to be forced to give up seats for elderly passengers as they were very reluctant. I witnessed an entire family cram into a toilet just to get some space, along with their luggage. The two boys had already been sick due to the hot and cramped conditions on a previous train. They were travelling from Edinburgh to Southampton! I met a teenager on my second train who caught my third train with me so I was keeping an eye out for her as she was travelling alone. She wasn't good with enclosed spaces and I can tell you people were cramming onto these trains until the doors closed on them. The worst part of the journey was when an elderly lady was stood up to get off and the train couldnt pull into the station. The heat got to her and even though my little friend was fanning her and I was keeping an area of space for her, she ended up being sick. She cleaned it up as best as she could bless her. I felt so bad for her. I had some spray in my bag so I just sprayed the floor for the next people getting on. The little group of people I was with made the journey pass with jokes and stories and it was actually quite enjoyable except that I was standing for 5.5hours!

I wrote an email to the train company as my DM paid £123.00 for my tickets and booked my seats and it was awful. I am just glad I wasn't one of the unfortunate ones I mentioned above. It was so good to get home!

Back at work now but got three days off over the New Year and going to blitz my flat as I got totally behind with washing and cleaning while I was ill.

Have a great evening everyone! I am going to check out your diaries :)

  • Hello Everyone!!

So I have been looking at the old finances and although a little tighter than I would have liked, things don't seem too bad. My loan repayments have brought my total down to just over £4500. Not bad for 4 months. I have £700.00 that is emergency money. My OH is going to be paying half the rent from January onwards and I am getting ready for a complete finance overhall. I need to really start working hard on getting my money to travel further.

I have been thinking about a lot of things and most of my money goes on food. Need to stop this. 1. I waste a lot and 2. I really need to lose some weight. I figure if I am eating less then I should save money on food. :rotfl:

I am also living in a total tip at the moment. Stuff everywhere. I am off for the next few days. The OH is working tomorrow until 2pm so I am taking him to work at 6am  and rather than going back to bed, I am going to start work on my flat. It is going to be spotless, organised and I can do a little inventory of food, household goods, toiletries etc. It is time to organise myself so that when I finish work in February, I will already be into good habits and the flat and everything will be up together so I can focus on job hunting. :j

Now.. good intentions and all that. I am relying on you all to tell me to get on with it if I say I haven't done something :D

Why do my diary entries always end up so long? I am sure when I start to write that there isn't much to tell you. It's funny the things that crop up.

I will keep you posted about the next few days.
