  • Thanks Twiggy. I will stand up for myself as much as possible. Thanks Beanielou, sending energy to you too! I'm at work at the moment but I am going to call my manager and go home. I can't speak properly and I think I am getting the stomach bug my OH has. He has been sent home too.

Oh no, hope you feel better.

You mention there is no heating, have you checked the temperature, there is a minimum temp that the workplace has to be.

  • Thanks Dawny

The office is below the required temperature and we had heaters but they were taken away by my managers even though we had them authorised. They came out of my own money so I am extremely reluctant to buy more.

October, getting out of there sounds like it will be the best thing for you. Effectively they stole your heaters. Can you contact HSE, as I'm pretty sure management removing the heaters would be against the HSE guidelines.
I had a similar issue at my old office (same company, but we recently moved offices). There was NO hot running water, at all. I was always ill with infections and coughs and colds (more so than usual). My consultant sent a letter to the director advising of my susceptibility to infections, and advising that the lack of hot water was having a detrimental effect on my health. As the new office was well underway anyway there wasnt a lot he could really do, but I put up posters and he gave me money to buy paper towels, hand sanitiser, flasks, and a second kettle. I know this is kind of off point, but if HSE were to have gotten involved at that point, I'm pretty sure he would have been in some kind of trouble.
Perhaps get a letter from your doctor advising that the cold office is having an effect on your health? The managers can't use this against you (anymore than they already seem to be making your life a misery), and it will probably result in you getting your heaters back.
    Hope you are otherwise ok.
  • Aw October, what a rubbish time you are having! Hugs.

Your employers sound utterly horrendous. Let them hang themselves by doing everything wrong and then take them to the cleaners. The sooner you are out of there the better Xx

  • Hello Diary and Lovely Diary Readers!

:jGood News!! I had a disciplinary hearing on Wednesday and I spent ages getting prepared for it. I used all the investigation notes to make planned responses and printed off loads of things as supporting evidence. So much so that they only gave me an off the record warning!

I am feeling a lot lot better overall. Been floored by a cold the last couple of weeks and I think I am now over the worst of that. My OH and I went to meet my DM and DA yesterday, half way between them and us.

It ended up being a bit a of a fiasco as my DM and I got our wires cross and the OH and I went to the wrong services. Worst thing was, I had checked the location and seen it was near where my eldest DB lives so contacted him and my SiL to meet us as a surprise for my DM. Well my DA and DM aren't well (seems to be a nasty cold going around) and they were an hour away from where we were so wouldn't come any further. Unfortunately due to time constraints my DB and SiL couldn't do the extra either. But my OH and I had a lovely time with my DB and SiL and then with my DM and DA. :rotfl:

I am so pleased to be able to write a more positive diary entry. I feel like the last few weeks have been absolutely horrendous. Now I am focusing on Christmas and then the New Year. I am going to miss my OH at Christmas but we both have our families to be with and this is our first Christmas as a couple. Who knows what next year will hold.

I would also like to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who supports me here. I can't tell you how much you all help me to get through the rough times. I never thought when I started this diary it would be such a support to me.

    Have a fab afternoon everyone

    October xx
