  • Thanks Bubblesmum!

That is really good advise. You know it is funny you should say about scanning and recording documents. I had never thought of this until I saw someone say about it today. I have this weird obsession at the moment of watching YouTube videos about tiny houses. I think I am trying to get hints and tips on living in cramped condition. There was someone on one of those videos this morning that scanned and kept everything digital.

Might have to do some looking around to get some prices. Just thought it might be something I should look into as I wouldn't have access to a printer once I leave work.

I am looking forward to 2015 with you too :)

We invested in a printer when we were sorting out the wedding, it worked out a lot cheaper to print our own stuff to go inside the invites than it did getting those printed too. We managed to get a printer/copier/scanner in the sale at Mr T's, I'd say that now is a good time to get one, especially with all of the post Christmas sales. We have this one :here
It is in the sale at Argo5 for £50.

    Hi October

I have just caught up with your diary. Sounds like you've had a hellish few months. I think you definitely need to leave your job. I worked for a company about 5 years ago who treated me like your company treat you. I ended up at the doctors over severe stress and was basically told my my doctor to leave. I ended up on JSA for 3 months once i finally took the plunge (luckily I was living at home with my parents and only had car payments to make) but I found a nice job once I admitted what had happened to them. I have been there ever since. I am only on the hunt again now as I want a career change.

No job is worth getting sick over and if you have to cope for a few months by being extremely stringent then this is better for your mental state.

Just wanted to give my advice, but it is only that - Advice.

Re the printer - Make sure if you do by a printer - get a new one or see it work before buying it - I learnt that the hard way - I have a printer in my cupboard that just wont print no matter what I try. So I currently use my office printer (only when my boss is out of the office tho) :)

    Hi Diary and Diary Readers

I think I am getting yet another cold!! I spent most of last night tossing and turning as I couldn't breath through my nose and this morning I woke up with a sore throat. I am taking yuksils every two hours in the hopes I can kill it before it gets too bad.

Anyways... :j Hi Myteeduck and welcome to my diary. Sorry it has seemed more negative. It certainly has been a bad few months but I am definitely on the up and up.

As for my printer, thank you for the advice. I spoke to my DM and my work colleague about it and they both asked me how much I use my work printer. The answer was not very often. My work colleague mentioned that I should print out a load of CVs from the work printer and some basic cover letters to hand out if I need to and anything else I could go to the library and sort out. Very MSE. :money: I think I might do that as I don't really want to spend out £50 and you would need to to get a decent one. I also have limited space at home. I am going to be sensible and not get it. Maybe once money is a little more stable.

The other thing my work colleague said was that it's becoming a very real possibility that I will finish work on 01/02 and be paid for the month on garden leave. I think this would be great as I would probably arrange to visit my DM. I am thinking that I should start really looking for jobs now. Get an idea of what is out there, what I am interested in etc. My only issue is I can't start until March. I think it would still be worth checking around though. What do you lovely people think? As much as I would love to stay at home for awhile I am sure that I would get bored after the third week :rotfl:

I have spent 75p today on water.. again! and a packet of soft mints 50p? I did make OH and I lunch though and he bought us brekky. I am going to try not to spend anything else but I do need ham so that will probably be another £1.50. £2.75 doesn't seem too bad in one day? Soon adds up though and I really want to get some more NSDs.

I haven't done my to do list either. I finished off the laundry, just need to put it away and do the bit of ironing I have. Still got hoovering and a bit more sorting to do and then I need to sit down at my computer and work out a budget for this month. I have sausages out for dinner tonight. I am doing them with creamy mash potatoes and beans. I think I will do some fried onion for me too :)

Meal planning is difficult as I live in a shared flat. This means my OH and I pretty much live in one room and then we share the kitchen, shower room and toilet. We have one cupboard in the kitchen, a shelf in the fridge and a drawer in the freezer. It makes it a nightmare to live off the freezer etc. I am trying though! I need to look in there and see what else I have. DM always makes me meals to put in my freezer so I have some of those left which is hard to use as they don't come with heating instructions :rotfl:. This learning to cook thing is hard work. I am pleased with my achievements though. I can do roast veggies and boiled veggies and all kinds of pasta dishes. I think my next challenge is going to be toad in the hole. I love that!

I think I have prattled on enough for one entry. Time to check out what the rest of you are up to. I don't like not reading the whole of a diary so it is hard sometimes to catch up with you. I am currently reading liltdiddylilt's diary. She is really an inspiration :) You all are if I am honest. There isn't one diary I have read where I haven't been amazed at the determination and positivity. Also the bravery of saying you've made a mistake or you have fallen off the MSE wagon. You are all :As

If I slip up I always want to not say anything on here as only I will know the truth - but I just can't! If I'm not honest on here I feel like I'm not being honest with myself.

    You're doing really well - here's hoping to a good 2015
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £6,450.00
Total paid off - £9,150.89 (58% paid off)
  • Hellllooooo Diary and Diary Readers!

Good grief.. I have a sinus issue (I always feel like a snake when I say sinus out loud :rotfl: ). So money has to be spent on decongestant and nasal spray. The worst thing is that it is just one nostril effected so it feels really weird. That and I have a blocked nose that I keep having to blow. It's very frustrating. I feel like the snot monster has me in it's grips! OH has threatened to put me out of my misery if I give him another cold.. MUAHAHAHAHAHAAAA...

Soooo today has not been an NSD but I did make mine and OH's packed lunch and I have a yummy dinner planned for tonight. Last night got changed as OH and I had a barny about money and housework and his response was to fall asleep instead of peeling potatoes like I had asked him. We ended up with sweet and sour rice. I bought some chicken breast and put half in the freezer and chopped half for the sauce. I had a jar of sauce in my cupboard and rice so no expense there. I know it is silly but I really want to get some fresh flowers for my room but I cannot justify the cost. Instead, I am going to put some tealights in my big vase as a "feature". I miss the girly touches I used to have before my OH moved in. I took them away to make him feel more at home.

I did a bit of a stock check and it appears I have plenty of beans, spaghetti hoops and soups. I think OH and I need to have more jacket potatoes and beans on toast. Although I think my OH is windy enough as it is!! :rotfl:

Trying for another LSD today. Definitely going to have a NSD tomorrow. I am determined. Going to get some green veggies after work today and we will have something my DM prepared from the freezer and veggies tomorrow. Gotta get rolls tonight too as I am all out and they have been so nice for lunches. Also need some crisps so it is starting to sound like a normal spend day. Worth it perhaps if I can get a couple of NSDs afterwards.

Well enjoy the rest of the afternoon and evening folks.

  • Hello Everyone!

It's a Bother day today. Last night seemed never ending. I couldn't breathe and my face felt like it was going to tear open. I tried all my usual sinus remedies and was practically snorting 0bas oil. Went to the pharmacy to see if they could recommend anything else. They said I was beyond their help and needed to see the doc :rotfl:. I could of told them that lol. Anyway, got an 8am appointment with the triage nurse tomorrow. She sorted out my chest infection. In the meantime I am losing my mind with frustration. Even my face is a little puffy on one side. Starting to think my member of staff was right and a needle into the sinus would be a godsend. Still seems a bit drastic though so will leave it to the nurse!

Was too tired and fed up last night to make dinner so OH prepared hot dog sausages and noodles. Got sausages and mash tonight as I got sausages out of the freezer and put off making them for the last couple of days. I really think I need putting out of my misery. It comes to something when you are over the moon to sneeze. It gives me a minute of clear breathing before I block up again.

Anyway, going to stop whinging. Keep medicating myself and work hard to keep positive. My immune system is weak so I am picking up everything at the moment. Just got to get it back up to scratch :)

    Have a fab day everyone!

    Get well soon.

I have found facial massage brilliant for clearing sinuses, usually have it done on me as part of my regular massage, but I think you can self administer, you tube must have a how to :)
As a dear MSE friend says “keep plodding” or
What does the saying say.... When life hands you lemons, make lemonade
Or as my Mum would say, brush yourself down, tomorrow is another day or
Fake it, to you Make It

Please say hello my new diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6578460/still-dancing-to-blow-the-debt-clouds-away

I have been trying to caress the area that I know is puffy to release the pressure. Its not too painful but very irritating. Its all under my left eye to the left of my nose. I know there are sinuses either side of your nose, a big one above your eyebrows and at your temples. This is just the one left of my nose. Its bugging the hell out of me as it feels like someone is pushing from just under my eye to the top of my left nostril. Its like it should only take a couple of hard blows of my nose to clear but it doesn't. In fact, everything I am currently trying can work for about 5 minutes but then stops. Makes me want to scream. Hope the nurse can fix it before I lose all my marbles :rotfl:
