I wasn't trying to be, but it's a fact. I couldn't imagine being young in a different era, because I wasn't. By the norm I don't mean everyone is doing it, but it's not shocking if someone does.

In 2010 there was even a top 10 song called "Dirty Picture".

Just because I was young in a different era does not mean that I cannot imagine being young now. We too had the "everyone is doing it - why don't you" - when a man I worked for asked me to stop wearing a bra and start wearing see-through shirts .....this was in a London office! Could I complain and get him sacked? Of course not - because "everyone (in his dreams) was doing it. Pressure? Sure. I walked out - after tipping his hot tea all over him!

Just because it's the norm doesn't make it good. A couple of hundred years ago it was the norm to send small boys up chimneys - and a hundred and fifty years ago, it was the norm for rich men to procure young (12 year old virgins) for sex.

I'm in my 20s, when I was at school most of my friends (male and female) were doing it. People saying "don't take it and it can't be used against you" don't seem to grasp that it's very much the norm.

You are only thinking this way because you're older, if you were younger you'd understand more. Nothing is like it was when you were young. I never said it was "good".

Seriously, I've heard it all now. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Can you actually HEAR yourself?

"What do YOU old farts know anyway? It's perfectly NORMAL for us to take pics of our boobs and bums and give them to a boy we have known for five minutes, because we LOVE him and TRUST him so much. But I will cry like a baby and act the victim when he shares the pics all over the internet!" OMG, it's almost too painful to read! :rotfl:

With pathetic and immature attitudes like this, it makes me stand by what I said earlier, that people who do take naked pics of themselves and give them to their boyfriends, are as much to blame as the people sharing the pics.

As has been said a few times; it's offensive to the extreme to compare these silly, foolish people with genuine victims of sex abuse and grooming.

I can't believe some of the comments I'm reading on here.

My children are 3 young adults - and my daughter is at uni, and she said she most definitely would NOT send naked pics to anyone, and you have to be incredibly gullible, foolish, naive and frankly, desperate for attention to send naked pics to someone. And despite the hilarious comments by buzzybee, not EVERY young person poses naked and sends pics to people. That is just what she wants to believe. She is just justifying herself sending them.

I find it hilarious to the extreme, that young people think/assume that middle aged and older people know NOTHING about young people today, and also assume that THEY were never young.
    You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:
  • Not that I know of. :rotfl:

When I was in my younger teens all my mates were glue sniffing. When I was older a lot of them were getting into heroin. I didnt because I didnt want to. You dont have to be a sheep, all people have a choice.

EXACTLY. Only the very weak and gullible, and people who are desperate to be accepted will take naked pics and send them to someone over the internet.

Only if you are shortsighted enough to completely ignore the possible consequences of your actions.

    Well said.
Yes a lot of people do it, but to say it is the norm is ludicrous!

My views aren't as extreme as either Peters or Lily's views, but I do believe that if you take the photos in the first place then you are partly to blame. I think Tiddlywinks explained it well.

Of course the majority of the blame should land with the person spreading the photos, but if you took the photos in the first place, then of course you have to be accountable for your actions.

The reason I am being so incredibly vocal in my postings is because it makes me so mad how the person taking and sending naked pics are blaming everyone but themselves.

And it's also narking me off how some younger folk have this absurd attitude that older people (50 plus) don't know a DAMN THING about anything, and have not lived, and have no clue about what it's like to be young. Give me a break!!!

So, because of people breaking the law and a dr who broke the law I should delay medical advice and importantly in my situation, informing my medical team in fullest way possible of changes or reactions in my body?

    :rotfl: How foolish.

They were doing it. I know of very proper women of Thorsoak's age who were in London at the same time who were in photos they'd rather the world didn't see.

IMO, one of the bigger differences is the world wasn't so busy admitting they were looking. People's behaviour ( and I don't mean consenting adults in privacy and trust) is often appalling and hysterical about this sort of thing....yet it spreads more quickly. Whether the speed of spread is the only difference of if people generally had higher, or at least less openly gawping, standards of nosiness about others intimacy and bodies ( outside of pornography) I don't know.....I'm not old enough!

Rude, I wouldn't send photos, but I find it amusing that you think you know what your daughter may or may not do in her private life.

I know everyone was young once, but not young in this digital age we now live in, it's just not comparable.

I find everything you say 'amusing.' ;)

    Borderline hilarious actually.

I am also amused by your quick denial that YOU have never send naked pics to anyone. Yeah.. ok then. If you say so. :D

I am not claiming everyone does it. I am not claiming it is right or wrong. I am simply acknowledging it is done nowadays and the world of smart phones, Skype, digitial cameras etc mean that it's much easier for people to do if they wish. I don't think people are less prudish nowadays, it's just more digital.
