So it is acceptable to blame the victim of a sex crime if they haven't taken some arbitrary "precautions"?
Because that is what revenge !!!!!! is, it is a sex crime.
And out of interest, when somebody waltzes in to your unlocked house and nicks your stuff, since it is your fault, should we not prosecute the thief?
No it is not acceptable to blame the victim. I know I have been one and it was not my fault. But equally we have to take responsibility for our own actions.
Crimes have always happened and will still happen. But you can take control.
No it is not acceptable for people to steal but being completely honest I would rather they go to someone else's house who leaves their windows, doors and car unlocked than mine. If a thief has enough time and enough opportunity they will take what ever they want no matter what security you have.
Your online life has to be conducted in a similar way to your real life. I do not know you so why would I suddenly show you personal pictures of me, my family and personal details about my life. That is what happens each and every time you friend someone on face book.Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -

It wasn't your fault but it is the fault of revenge !!!!!! victims? Because that is what you're arguing.Crimes have always happened and will still happen. But you can take control.
And by "take control" you mean not do something that is completely legal because there's any chance that some c-word will use that to exact revenge on you in the future (and in doing so, they will be breaking the law)?No it is not acceptable for people to steal but being completely honest I would rather they go to someone else's house who leaves their windows, doors and car unlocked than mine. That didn't answer the question. You said it is your fault if you leave your door unlocked and get burgled. Therefore, since it is your fault, do you agree that we should not prosecute the thief?
Also, I work in the security industry. I'm pretty up to date on the actions of thieves.Your online life has to be conducted in a similar way to your real life. I do not know you so why would I suddenly show you personal pictures of me, my family and personal details about my life. That is what happens each and every time you friend someone on face book.
I'm not asking you to do that and to be quite honest, even if I did add you on Facebook (which i wouldn't) you wouldn't see a single picture of me anyway.
And that's the point. I share what I want to share. People who are victims of revenge !!!!!! are not sharing what they want to share. Somebody is taking the liberty of sharing what were private images, breaching their trust and doing so for nothing more than a malicious revenge. But for whatever reason, people would rather blame the victim saying he or she should just never have taken a picture, than seek the prosecution of the person who has violated the victim in such a manner. It's ridiculous.0 -
Sorry but calling this a 'sex crime' is like saying a verbal insult is like GBH...
It's embarrassing but let's get this in perspective.:hello:0 -

It's a violation of an individual's body by wilfully sharing images of their body in a pornographic context for the purposes of the sexual enjoyment of others and the humiliation of the victim.
That is a sex crime, like it or not.0 -
If you dont want photos of yourself in the buff on the internet then dont take them and give them to partners in the first place.
What do people think is going to happen to them if they have a bad falling out with their OH?. Durr...
Its different when kids get manipulated but if a fully functioning adult does it then its their own fault.0 -

Interesting, too, about it actually being a crime for someone to take nude piccies of a person under 18 (or is it 16), as it would be classed as an indecent image of a child. RAS's post was food for thought..
As regards erotic pictures of a partner, there's no wrong in that, of course. Many people have filmed themselves and taken pictures of themselves for decades now, it's not new. What is new is the instant ability to upload the images and share them with the world, in a matter of seconds. Years ago all you had to do was make sure you kept the explicit pictures/video locked away somewhere!
We're at a relatively early stage of policing the internet. I think I saw a journalist refer to it as a bit of a 'wild west' at this stage in time. But technology always moves faster than the people trying to police it, which is another problem.
Personally I wouldn't be happy if someone were to post pictures of me online without my permission. That goes for any kind of photo, I'm not just referring to risque ones. But do we have any control over this? Not much, it seems.0 -
I've always thought that the 'elephant in the room' here is that if these pictures didnt exist in the first place they couldnt be posted online. What sort of puerile person takes a naked picture of themselves in the first place, or allows them to be taken.
That's a bit harsh! Nude photography is considered an art form.0 -
I'd think a partner was a nutter if they asked for a photo of me with no clothes on. I wouldnt be able to stop laughing because I would think they had lost the plot.
I cant see that many people falling for that to be honest unless they are really daft.0 -
I'm in my 20s, when I was at school most of my friends (male and female) were doing it. People saying "don't take it and it can't be used against you" don't seem to grasp that it's very much the norm.0
