just started found the thread and have spent nearly an hour reading it. it beggers belief that people can be so thick skinned. if i was told i wasn't welcom to go on a family holiday then i woldn't go. if you haven't gone already (and you probably have) id give the rest of the family the wrong caravan park address see how they get on:rotfl: .
why don't you write a letter to you MIL explain how you want to be on your own with your OH and maybe another time yu'll all go away together? tell her you fear that you may split up and the pressure of all the family in a very small space will drive you farther apart. in other words pile on the guilt!!

i have been seperated about a year now- OH's family could be over the top-couldn't get rid off them or completly not bothered. still get on with SIL and BIL but it is strained.

i have met someone else now and all my freinds say im a different person. and iam-im happy now.
whatever descision you make only you can make it and you'll know when the time comes what to do. i wish you all the luck in the world as i think you need it.

  • Hey CheapChick, a month and no post. I do hope you are ok and are braving the in-laws - or at least braving hubby.

    Thoughts are with you

  • hi all

    just to update you all.

i went to the doctors on the day i went on holiday - i sat there sobbing in the room telling him what i felt. he prescribed me some anti depressants and something to "put me out of it" whilst i was on holiday. tbh i was out of it in spaceland for the duration. My mil kept waking us in the morning at about 6.30 and had a face like a bulldog for the duration, but as i was floating in the clouds, i paid no attention. i was p***d off that she never even bought a cup of tea for us despite accompanying us to the restaurant /club every night. my Sil's were ok really, i never really paid any attention to them.

anyway 3 weeks later the anti depressants kicked in and i felt like a new woman, i had bags of energy and the kids and oh noticed the difference in me.

my oh has really tried and with some success, and has laid down the law to his family, they have not really got involved so much with us and giving us some space. he kicked off with his sister a couple of weeks ago after he heard that she was being beaten up in our local pub by the boyfriend - to which the boyfriend had to be held down and thrown out.

i have enrolled my DD with swimming and dancing lessons - we are both doing them so its a real one to one activity. i'm really enjoying it and so is she, i can honestly say that we are doing a lot of new things together and we're both enjoying it.

my oh and i talk more now, i've even found a new romantic side to him and sort of recaptured our love a bit more.

i am almost in tears now re reading the thread as that was how i was feeling, and how differently i feel now.

thanks for all your support and pm's

Well done for being so strong. I guess your other half had just got used to his family and their strange ways.

Now this patten has been broken. OK he was not able to stop them but he did try and is continuing to challange them. So hopefully they will eventually understand and give you some peace as a couple.

I really think you are a star.

Good luck to you , your oh and children.

I think you are perhaps a little paranoid ;)
Sometimes life takes over and posting on an internet forum is not a priority.
I don't read or post on these forums everyday because I have a real life (with real friends) that frankly is more important. Does that mean that everytime I post you should be smelling a rat?

Not everyone with a low post count is a troll you know :D !
