If it was Melbourne probably listed here, they've got some great farmers markets there.

Or for not so much just a farmers market but a great place to go and waste the day, there's always the Queen Vic.....

I wonder if it was the Queen Vic one she was talking about.

I know she is very disappointed with our supermarkets as she is into 'seasonal' etc. We were chatting about UK seasonal winter veg and she was not keen as it's mostly roots.....but is going to try and do exciting things with swedes and beetroots.......a change from avocados and chia seeds.

fc I know I'm very new to the NP thread, but if you do end up hosting a NP "do" I would love to come if that'd be okay - I can get to you on the 89 bus and it would be gorgeous to meet some of you :)

ETA I can bring a pud!

...hang on I missed that...89 bus mmm from which direction south or north?

There's a new reason for a traffic jam, namely Diwali. The enormous (and simply amazing!) Hindu temple in Neasden is south of the North Circular Road, whilst all the good parking is North. So, thousands of people are crossing the road, and there are three lanes of traffic in both directions backed up for half a mile. At least, we were entertained by the fireworks.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I truley dislike chia seeds. Its the way the volume of what's in your mouth increases as you chew firstly, that's gruesome, Then the way they just get slimier and slimier.

I can see they'd be good for people who habitually over loaded their forks....give them a fork full of chia seeds and watch them squirm.

    :(

    Fir eats chia seeds.

NP get together for Nikkster - Hmm, if DD1 can put us up on the required date I might manage to visit with OH... I won't tell him yet though - might scare him off! ;) :rotfl:

Oh, so long since I was here! Gradually recovering from the London Trip. It was fantabulous. Shoes and Hat both got commented on positively, first day at the Persephone talk, second day out at bus stop dog walker said "Great hat!" and then in shop at National Portrait Gallery a random bloke said "those are fantastic shoes"!. I feel like a fashion diva! :rotfl:

NDG, here's the section of DoveGreyReader's talk about Saplings. I thought Lynne's ideas linking in Bowlby are interesting. I loved the book, romped through it really fast, page turner - had to find out what happened! Really need to go back and read it better and in more detail when have some more time.

At National Portrait Gallery we went to view the William Morris "Anarchy and Beauty" exhibition. I loved it, OH didn't so much. He first knew about Morris as a poet (OH = Eng Lit Grad), bit miffed to learn he was known as designer. I did stuff about his wallpaper when at art skool back in the 70s. Didn't finish course, but still have lots of interest in much stuff I'd never have known about without that!

Spirit, have been sending the vibes sitting in front porch. Garden not as lush as when sending to Gen earlier in year, but we still have some roses, and we have amazing skies from time to time... Yesterday I should have taken camera out. Tis all very well to look back after! Red swathes across the sky, gorgeous. Gen, still vibing to you as well - I think you and Spirit both need the vibes. Hugs to you both. :grouphug:

...there are usually a lot of fireworks in our area for Diwali (which is the only reason I know it's on now.....kids used to acknowledge it in school years ago) but all is silent our way.

I'm now hopelessly behind with this thread, sorry :o

From a quick scan through it looks like a lot of us are making progress where things were looking bleak the past few weeks :)

I'd definitely be up for an NP meet-up! London is very do-able for a day trip.

    ....more the merrier. :)

I did buy a packet but haven't tried them yet. I bought some Freekah recently (supposedly a wonder food) but don't know what to with it yet.
Son has a go at me if I buy too much Quinoa due to it being pillaged from Bolivia and the Bolivians now eat MacDonalds instead....so are getting ill. I think I wrote about it before.

He grudgingly accepts the only Nescafe product in the house is my special coffee...but still suggests I try to source an alternative.

Ha ha, I always think of the 89 as running East-West, but now I come to think of i,t it must be North-South...I'd be coming from the South then, I guess. I could get the 486 as well. I'm in Bexleyheath :)

I've been wanting to see Eltham Palace for ages. Hopefully, I can combine the visits to the two palaces, Eltham and FC's.
