I can take over from Clarkson for the last 3 episodes. I'm sure I can hop in a car and find the loud pedal.
I like Matt's take on it:
Long reports 5/5 completed
Short reports 37/68 completed, the other 31 have grades but no comments yet.
And yes I know I said I was going to get them done yesterday so as not to have to work on my day off.
Edit (3:50pm)
Short reports 54/68 completed, the other 14 have grades but no comments yet.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I've given up wine during the week, except for on proper occassions.
I think today might be the first day on six months that I break that. It's either that or an awful lot of chocolate.
The not so womderful thing about being your own boss is that the buck stops with you when your employees do something stupid.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

They wake up in the middle of the night and think 'Bugslet is such a wonderful boss! I must tell her immediately.'No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Trying to feel inspired for something perfect for supper tomorrow. Just out of the food groove ATM. But this weekend is going to be really romantic I hope and I really want to set the mood well. It won't need to be heavy, he had a lunch meeting with someone tomorrow.
Fir is going to a jazz thing tonight with a friend of his ( to listen, not to play).0 -
James is struggling with his EDS and associated problems and has been advised by the uni to come home 10 days earlier than he was supposed to, rest and get healthy.
Sorry to hear this Sue - at least the Uni is looking out for him, as Nikkster said earlier. Hope you can get any medical appointments you might need for him while he's home.lostinrates wrote: »It's really weird people are defending physical violence ( if I have gathered correctly from the small bit I could not avoid seeing on news)
I agree. If he has punched someone, in most other workplaces that would be instant dismissal on the grounds of gross misconduct. The employer has a duty of care to other employees. There is also the issue that he was on a previous final warning - although the commentators yesterday were noting that the relevance of that would depend on whether that fw related to verbal misconduct or any breach of the code of practice.
Yes, the programme makes the BBC shedloads of money, but at what point does behaviour get too unacceptable and is a line drawn? How much more violent would it have to be for it to be unacceptable?
I must confess to enjoying Top Gear, particularly the star in a reasonably priced car, and don't think the offence taken in Argentina was, for once, intended. But the stereotype of the show - and Clarkson in particular - is now so ingrained and anticipated that people believe it anyway (a bit like crying wolf).
Ho hum. Time will tell what really happened. The suggestion is that it took place up here, but the owner of the hotel is staying very tight-lipped!When I'm visiting family in Scotland, the ship canal marks the halfway point for the journey.:)
In the days when I used to drive back up from Inner Herts to Outer Herts, up the A1, I used to reckon that I'd reached "The North" somewhere in South Yorkshire when passing a skyline with old mining machinery jutting out over a slope0 -
That's how I think of the journey to the north Yorkie. I never went further north than Birmingham until I was 20. I then drove to Scotland with a good friend of mine, all the way up looking out of the window and going "what's one of those?" "that's a colliery", what about that? "mill", then further north "chemical plant". The only time I'd really seen industry prior to that was on the bridge out of Melbourne, towards Geelong.
But then you'd pass the dales and the moors and they are just so beautiful. I think Yorkshire is a stunning place. Especially just north of Leeds and out towards Harrogate. That's my favourite bit so far. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
