Do we know what happened with Clarkson or is everyone jumping to conclusions?

I doubt he'll get the sack as Top Gear is a very successful program.

He hit a producer after filming had concluded.

All three's contracts are due to expire at the end of the month, and I can see the other two walking if I'm honest. Yes, he's guilty of being an idiot, but I feel the BBC have acted too strongly, especially considering there's no police investigation at this time.

I am still here, I promise. Just very busy :)

I am a member of a Facebook group where people in the local area advertise stuff for sale. Yesterday someone advertised a pair of tickets to Top Gear live for £130. They were immediately snapped up by some woman who wanted to buy them as a present for her husband or something...

I went to that in Sydney with Mrs Generali a few years ago. It was quite fun I guess. Not worth the money we paid but it was okay.

Agree that the format is tired. I quite enjoy Top Gear but it is quite notable that you can only really tell which series an episode is from by the number plates on the cars!

IIRC, Top Gear V1.0 died because it didn't move on. I suspect the same thing will happen to Top Gear V2.0. The presenters will have made good money from it and generally seem to crop up other places so won't go hungry in future either.

    !

Hitting one of your work colleagues is a BIG deal. Maybe it varies a bit according to where you work, but in the genteel environment of the BBC I would have thought it would normally count as gross misconduct and warrant immediate dismissal.

I have no idea what actually happened, and I have no idea why the BBC are themselves reporting that this could cost them £millions in compensation. Maybe they mean lost sales to other broadcasters?

And yes, the Top Gear franchise has been done to death.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

As I said yesterday, I know less than most, ears are dodgy so picking up little, and I'm not that interested apart from the interesting difference in the 'nursery rhyme'/ racist incident and other examples like Ross/ grant.

However, I 'work' with others who could realistically cause me physical harm every day. Its a risk of the choice. I still would not like to have someone here who punched me. When I worked with people I was once grabbed in cells. ( only once). Never have I seen cell staff move so quickly. Interestingly, this was also a ' middle class person' not the 'underclass' clients. Still, I had a kind of a vibe on first meeting, and had removed my earrings after first meeting, and it had a scarf round my neck and for some reason, I decided to loop and not tie it, a sensible decision.

Grant's poor behaviour did his career no harm. But he is attractive to many.

There is a family story in fir's family of a time his father was on a boat and someone said to IH ' you look like a Greek god'.

Today fir's gym stalker asked him if he were Greek, and fir felt it was a second rate version of this story.

One day the gym stalker will ask him if he's god....now that will be worrying.

A friend of ours is a child psychotherapist, working with extremely difficult children. She wears dangly earrings that she always removes before seeing clients. Pierced ears, so it would be quite an ouch if one of the kids grabbed one.

I some how imagine God would be a little more .....I dunno.....less quiet perhaps than fir. And maybe a little taller. And less hirsute. :D

The Eastham Ferry Hotel is a bit to the left of the tree on the extreme left. We only see it in winter when there's no leaves on the trees. So you're quite a bit further to the left. ;) One of these days we hope to be organised enough to do the ferry trip up the Manchester Ship Canal. I've seen photos online, and reckon it would be a fun day out.

I work at the other end of the ship canal, I can see the ship canal from my bedroom window and work ins Salford Quays - I should get a boat instead of tackling the M62!.
