If they had not wanted you, there would have been no reason for them to have asked you. :)

It's amazing what tricks our minds play on us. Why do we fall for it?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Probably rues the fact you were obtained too late to train :)

Mrs Generali trained me extremely well on raising kids. She taught me the following:

    1. Do what Mrs Generali tells me to
    2. If she has misjudged risk (a pet interest of mine) discuss a better way ahead
    3. If in doubt refer to rule #1

Our history mostly. If something used to be true, especially in our family of origin when we were little, it's automatic for us to assume that it is still true in our quite different relationships with other people when we are grown up. Such habits can be broken, with help, but they don't ever just break themselves. :(

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

The other piece of parenting advice I follow comes from Mr Larkin:
They f... you up, your mum and dad. They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

But they were f...ed up in their turn
By fools in stovepipe hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another’s throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t have any kids yourself.
I memorised that poem whilst on paternity leave.

He took his own advice. He had no kids, at least none that he acknowledged, and he died in his early sixties, which surely qualifies as getting out as early as he reasonably could.

Today I am wearing a pair of jeans handed dowb from DD. She is gutted.

I know she has some size 12 tops that are too big for her and unworn (gifts). She is going to look them out for me.

Prices of imports are rising because the Aussie Dollar has fallen in value. The price of petrol has fallen as the oil price is falling even faster than our Dollar!

Unfortunately for your friend, I suspect that the Dollar has further to fall as interest rates continue to fall. The good news is that more expensive import prices are likely to be offset by a cheaper mortgage and cheaper home produced products like food and drinks.

The minimum wage in Australia is comparatively high. There are some very cheap places to live too if you go country. I was in Albury a few weeks ago and you could live pretty well there on minimum wage with benefit top ups. Sydney must be a nightmare for the low paid though.

Due to our system of penalty rates, you earn $40+ an hour for working on a Sunday

Thanks Gen. She did comment that they were quite surprised to find they could afford the house they've bought! I can't for the life of me remember where they live, but I don't think it's Sydney :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
Hopefully I have given the beautiful twins enough time to mention some bad news. Politics at work has won the battle, and fir is now looking for a job against the clock. There is no point fighting it this time ( though he has ample evidence to) as his progress is as far as it can reasonably go without serious change at the top now, and there is little point starting fires if you want a job somewhere else.

I've turned our central heating off ( hurrah for spring) and looking at our food cupboards in a whole different way. We have loads of food that's delicious, I just cannot eat loads of it, lol. So, I guess I'm going to be grateful I can eat popcorn as it is inexpensive.

We are both in good spirits. On Friday night I laughed all through the night in my sleep and fir is obviously concerned about the future and finding a job, but sort of ....pleased...too. The finding a job thing seems quite daunting.

Very worse case scenario and we get forced out of here too, we buy something else with him in a shoddy job....we're together. Doesn't really seem that bad to me, ( though I accept it might not feel that fun long term). That said, we have cushion before we are in that position, and frankly, I'm looking forward to cutting back to the bone. I'm sad I'll have to give the cleaners notice :(. I resisted for so long, now I'm going to miss them!

The stress boost has been good for me biochemically. I managed to stay awake through the day since, so my hormones are firing somehow or another. Unfortunately, I'm also noticing that I'm quite hungry. Glad I put meat balls in the freezer last weekend now, they are coming out tonight, as I want meat. :)

Thanks for sharing that with us, lir. Here's hoping for a wonderful job for fir, very soon, with nice bosses. :)
