My mate used to have a girlfriend like PN's mate. She once made us mashed potatoes with mayonnaise! She was one of those cooks who thought that adding just one more ingredient would make the food even better.

These babies do not appear to have the "sleep through the night" software package that I requested correctly installed. They do have the hiccups patch though.

It'll come. Their tummies are the size of walnuts so they can't eat enough yet.

Surely you know that software designers design what they think you want, not what you asked for...
Or it may be a package which can be successfully installed/upgraded in six months' time.
Alternatively, you may need to redefine "through the night".

Yeah. The poor little mites have lost about 12% of their body weight since they were born, we just can't get enough food in them despite spending what feels like 23 hours a day feeding one or the other of them. OH is pretty much a nervous wreck now as she has hardly slept since Wednesday and I am little better although I have been home three times and got 2-3 hours sleep each time which is just about keeping me going..

She is now hooked up to some light industrial machinery from a dairy farm and we appear to be turning a corner although we need to find a way to let her get more than an hour's sleep at a time.

Still, the babies are very cute!

Expressing gave my sister loads of help eventually because someone else could feed while she slept for a bit......and she only had one at a time. One of them was one of those you just couldn't put down though. For a long time. :( she didn't really care who had her so long as she was not put down. It continued for a long time. :o. Its really early days, but my sister used to be able to express enough for me / my parents to have a baby for days at a time,( freezing and storing) mean while expressing and freezing more of course.

I know it doesn't help now, but knowing that in the future there are ways your OH will be able to grab some sleep might keep her hopeful.

    They certainly are very cute!
Things will get better on the feeding front - you may have heard all about it at ante-natal classes but the reality is always more full on. After all, you may have taken in everything they told you at classes, but the babies weren't listening at the time!
I've been hooked up to similar light industrial machinery. It's a weird feeling. When I went back to work (part time) I took what was laughably described as a portable version of that machine to work and plugged into it at lunchtime. Carrying it upstairs was good for muscle development if nothing else. It certainly worked in getting the milk out.

The only advice I can give is to remind OH that she is now eating for three. She is probably very keen to regain her figure, but DW got very thin with our first child, simply because she did not eat enough.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

You'll be getting tons of advice, mostly contradictory and all designed to make you feel bad about yourselves. Just remember these things:

    1. Kids will never starve themselves to death. Don't sweat feeding.
    2. You don't expect to be able to drive a car or bake a cake without instructions. Why would you be able to breast feed without instruction?
    3. It gets easier quicker than you think. They'll be sleeping through the night in 2-3 months maximum. Probably in more like 6 weeks.
    4. Don't build anything into the bedtime routine you don't want to do every night for at least 2 years. Don't pat them off to sleep or anything.
    5. Look at some of the people that are parents. If those idiots can raise a child I'm sure you can!

If you get really stuck/annoyed/stressed then PM me. Mrs Generali used to run a 'Supernanny company and was in the second most read magazine in the UK each month. She'd be happy to help pro bono.

Gen, I know we can't quote, but if it is appropriate to do so, please tell Mrs Gen that is seriously impressive.
