I had too move half the junk in the garage today as we have some builders who need to be able to get through the back door without being very skinny and breathing in to slip through a 4 inch gap. All I can say is Lydia, when you find out the secret to not hoarding useless junk please pass it on asap.

If anyone would like a non-working combi microwave (same as our working one so kept for parts), a working combi-microwave (spare gathered somewhere along the way), stairgate (pressure fit, missing at least one of the screw in pressure pads), two white wooden chairs (pretty old fashioned, painted white), a black dish drainer, some old pots of spices from the kitchen 5 years ago (some opened), some bicycle stabilisers (a bit bent from when the kids got too big for them), 5 kids bicycles, various toys and bits of toys, varoius scooters, various car parts, half used bottles of car oil, a broken bin, a far past date fire extinguisher, 3 car seats for different ages, parts for 3 gazebos, a table football table, and a million other useless pieces of junk just ask.... :(
    I think....

Surely, one of the good points of having a Fiat Multipla is that it will take all that stuff to the dump in just one load? BTW, when you've done that, can we borrow it for a while, as we have about 20 loads to take.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Car boot fodder. Do you know 3-4 other people who'd be prepared to do a car boot together and all bring a few things and share the boredom of standing in a field?

Thanks for sharing that with us, lir. Here's hoping for a wonderful job for fir, very soon, with nice bosses. :)

Yup, sorry to hear FIR's news. I'm sure he'll get something. London's economy seems to be booming and that rising tide lifts all boats including yours.

Things are very different from how they were in the GFC.

Take the broken stuff to the tip, and Freecycle the rest.

We're going through this at present. <roll eyes smiley>

At least we found a place to take the 2 bicycles locally and they were pleased to have them. I've managed to Freecycle some of my stuff, and have email addies for a couple of people now who may be interested in more of stuff. 2 Spinning Wheels for starters.

Keep your place clear as you can! We've got my parent's stuff, some of MiL's stuff, then both of our stuff (we're pack rats) and only recently managed to get DD1 to take her carp oops stuff out of our old home.

I'm working myself up to get rid of about 9/10th of it all. But it's kinda hard, especially the books!

    Good luck!

LiR, I don't know what FiR does, so can't make proper comments. I hope he's getting redundancy payments. OH took voluntary redundancy from his job, but he was over 50 so got to take "early retirement", with pension. He took a year or so out, we did some interesting and fun driving around the Mersey in that year, always trying to get as close to the river as possible. Some of it was places that I doubt one would be allowed now. Might try it again.

Anyway, from what I've heard of you and FiR over the time I've been here I'd be surprised if between you (even with your health probs) there wasn't a great and better way forward for you both.

But it is a bit scary - I was pretty scared when OH decided to go with redundancy.

Oh, after his time out he did get other jobs. Much more basic, but he enjoyed more, and the last one he's still in touch with people he got to know there. Of course he was much older than FiR is now, nearer to full retirement and so on... But just wanted to say that he was much happier when took the redundancy. Kids were through Uni by then (I think) so that made things a bit easier too. It was just us. Close to mortgage free too at that time, which made a big difference over worries. I gather you aren't in that position yet, but you and FiR are much more moneywise than we are - we are useless on that front!

Big hugs to you from Liverpool, dear LiR. I'm sure that you both will do fine, and probably better than fine. Probably much better then fine! :)

If the worst happens, plenty of banks are expanding their compliance areas. When they all do that together, as now, there is generally good opportunities for people with indirect experience.

Earlier this evening found that The Sunday Times says Aigburth is one of the 50 best urban areas to live in.

Fingers crossed that makes old home easier to sell... :rotfl:
