And having grwon up with a swimming poolI can tell you that you do not want to surround it with grass because it will get muddy, the dirt will get into the pool and the chemicals will kill the grass.
It might be astroturf? I didn't look, PC playing up.0 -

Am I one of the 2? I was going to ask if anyone thought I would get away with building an indoor pool in the garden linked to the house via a conservatory as permitted development but PN might suggest that the combination would be bigger than her whole house....I think....0 -

No, maybe I should say 3 now.
One was an ex bf's schoolmate.
Other was a boss, who my friend had an affair with and ran off with, but he left his wife with the house with the pool.
I wouldn't want a pool - lot of expense/faff for the few days it can be used in England0 -
Don't worry Michael I've been working!
Enjoying the new job very much. It's very challenging, but I'm up to it; it's perfect really. Really like where I live. Landed on my feet!“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -

None of the places I lived in with a pool ( or garden pond) were they fenced off separately apart from here where the lagoon is fenced off with warning signs about poisonous gases.
. Nor was I ever fenced off from the sea.
What happens is that the toddler next door gets into your garden and drowns.
It's like the idea in the UK that you are responsible for the wellbeing even of a burglar on your property.
You can buy a pool fence quite cheaply and it's just accepted here as part of the cost of a pool. You also need to put a fence up if you buy a house with an unfenced pool regardless of when it was built.0 -

Not owned but rented...you know me which sort of brings up your number....most were condos with shared pools, but not all. One condo had a couple of pools and a sea water pool. , its amazing how the pool was hardly used by most people. I practically lived in the pools and beaches.
Fir house had a pool but his dad filled it in rather than undertake maintenance. It created problems just filling the pool in. It was on the side of a huge hill and filling it in made it want to pull away.0 -

A garden can be fenced without fencing the pool within it. .....and houses often stand alone..
But a toddler would fail to get over the water filled ditches road side here probably
This reminds me of the story I know I've told several times of the shocked Brits in Venice fir and I sniggered at
'These canals all ought to be fenced off, what about the children, come to think of it , have you seen any children'
Then followed a shocked train of thought that maybe all the children in Venice had drowned. ( it was morning on a school day).
Edit: Fwiw I do think some safety parameters are good. I however think that I have a rather different experience of risk adversity that is one of the greatest gifts my parents gave me ( us). This includes fire ( I know something GDb holds a different opinion of) after my sibling was in a horrific fire attack as a very small child. That sibling still has open fires, bonfires, candles, and is body confident despite extensive skin grafts and ' worse'. I rode despite my mother hating horses after being dragged by a horse at her families racing stables. And rode not in a soft cushy way! And when e move to the carribean and my swimming was a bit wussy in the sea my father chucked me off the end of a jetty. There began a love of the sea ( though I didn't like putting my head under for a while until I learnt about free diving).
While I'm perfectly happy for people to make other choices for themselves and their families I am happy making my choices for ME sink or swim, real fire or dark and cold. Its what I grew to like. I'm a little bit uncivilised and hedonistic. I like real flames, open water and space. I wish I had more of all three. I by no means wish to kill toddlers, I like some of them very, very much indeed. But......I don't wish for my soul to die either.0 -

Filling in a pool like that is an interesting conundrum. You need something about the same weight as the water the foundations were built for. Concrete or packed earth are around twice the weight of water. Maybe make the concrete out of pumice? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
