Biggest difficulty for mine and DW will be remembering the log in details and there will be a net repayment due to us. Next year will be more complicated and a lot more expensive.
    I think....

I know there's a rule of thumb, which ignores people's physical size/capacity and what they've eaten, but I thought it started counting the total units in the session from when you had the last unit.

So, if you drank 2 units at 8pm, 1 at 9pm, 1 at 10pm, it'd start counting 4 units from 10-11pm, taking one hour/unit, that'd indicate it might be OK to drive from 3am onwards.

Not something I've ever needed to read up about/check as I just don't drink, or just have the small half.

I think the idea is that your liver destroys the toxic substance (alcohol) at a steady rate equivalent to one unit per hour. So, in the example you gave, you would never have more than two units inside you and could drive off straight away at 10 pm and still just be legal.

Of course, that relies on your body working precisely according to the average. Also, for somebody with a low body mass, two units of alcohol will result in a higher blood alcohol concentration than for somebody heavier.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

So glad you're safely home michaels, and good luck with the tax returns. My son has to do his; I don't suppose for one moment that he's already done it, but I'm not going to ask, as apparently that would be nagging :D

I too am very glad to know you are safely home, michaels. Very sorry that your dream holiday was such difficult time for you and your family. :( Big cyber hugs to you all from Liverpool, and hopes that the health of all of you improves at a rate of knots.

While reading I've not had much time or energy to post. Went to MiL's flat on Thursday to be with OH when he and his bro met with man coming to take stuff to landfill. We've had some of the family sculptures that we will put in garden or at lottie - better they moulder away in places that they will be loved we think rather than just going to landfill. We hope to go back tomorrow, as have had further thoughts on this, so will rescue more of the stuff.

    Edited.

That's sad, Maggie. Don't forget that she is probably feeling quite a heavy burden herself. It doesn't justify having a go, but I think I could forgive, given the circumstance. People often don't say what they really mean which might be something along the lines of feeling alone and overwhelmed herself?

I'd certainly go with stressed, tired and possibly not having measure of how much you and DH are balancing health.

I think the idea is that 2 units takes you to the limit and then your liver can process 1 unit per hour so if you drink at that rate you will then remain at the limit and so able to drive.

This is promoted by the police here.

@michaels - welcome home. Sorry your holiday was crap.

@ukmaggie - I'd have been a bit more forthright TBH. Actually a lot more forthright. That's why SiL's husband doesn't let me go on his yacht any more:rotfl:

I'm lying on the sofa watching the Tottenham match. To use a medical term, my back is bloody killing me. I actually think that the new painkillers I have are making things a lot better but I still have good and bad days. I'm really hoping to get the part time job I applied for so I can devote more time to getting plenty of strength in my back.

We're off up the coast to see SiL today. We seem to have called a truce for now.

Middle son's latest drum cover....he isn't happy about the cymbals at the start, was even unhappier to find one of his more expensive cymbals has got a crack in it after his playing session yesterday.

Re alcohol, I don't drink anything when driving and if I do have a drink, I don't drive until the following afternoon, if it is a heavier session where I have had more than 4 pints of lager, I will not drive at all the next day....I value and need my license so prefer to be over cautious.

Not that I drink that often anyway, a handful of times a year.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

It's good enough as a guide, but bear in mind that at 185cm and about 105kg and OH is 160cm and about 60kg. I'd say (but I'm no doctor) that our reactions to alcohol are completely different, but that's just my opinion.
