Home safe at 4.30 this morning, asked insurance company about promised taxi, they admitted they had done nothing but did agree to therefore pay for one from the rank...expensive for them as it cost twice as much as prebooked. Got home and went back to bed whilst house warmed up and woke up to snow shower, so only 30 degrees colder than yesterday, it is not as if I already have a dodgy cough though.....
Nationwide responded to my Facebook complaint too late as well so we will see if they want to do amy cs recovery, at the moment we have several hundred k with them so perhaps we will see some suckimg up...
Flight was not too bad as there were a few empty seats and I immediately bagsied 3 which was just enough to lie down and sleep but I admit I didn't help out with the kids as much as I should have.
Now I have 6 million organising type chores to do connected with the btl sale and still need to do both our tax returnsNo rest for the wicked.
Thanks everyone for listening over the past 2 weeks.I think....0 -
Best to lead by example. The only kids I have known to get caught drink driving are the ones whose parents still do it. Every other kid I know wouldn't even think of it.
The Boy told me off for having a glass of wine before driving him home.
I explained that there is a limit which approximates to 2 units in the first hour and 1 in each hour after that. He looked very thoughtful in that 'Dad says one thing and teacher says another' way. He looks the same when we talk about physics.
I try very hard not to discuss economics with him although it is starting to rear its head.0 -

The lad and his teacher are right in one sense. Even though you are legal, your judgement may be impaired. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Goodness its cold.
We went to look at woodburners again and fir kept wandering off and instead of the one we were meant to be looking at I think he wants an ESSE stove. Sigh. Oh well. At least it would be a less expensive toaster than an aga would be.0 -
Glad you're back michaels. Hope you're not having to go back to work any time soon. The first 3 years after you pass your test in Aus the drinking limit is 0. You can't even have a bowl of trifle. Add to that a system of random breath testing where the cops put up a partial road block, often on Saturday and Sunday morning at about the sort of time a young person might be off to play sports or work a weekend job in a local store.
I will be buying the Generalissimos a breath testing kit when they start to drive.
Had a mate who worked in Northern Ireland. They had a very different system from GB. The numberplates didnt have year letters, the driving licences were photocard type ones (long long before we got them on our side of the water).
Cars had R plates for a year after the driver passed their test and there were restrictions on what you could do. If you lost your license for any reason you had to retake your test. Your license lasted ten years but I don't think upi had to take a retest.
The police apparently did lots of early morning breath tests to catch drivers still drunk from the night before. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
