    Give them a big sniff

Be careful GDB. Too much avocado squeezing and mango sniffing and you might be asked to leave the shop! :)

I've never had a mango. Never been in a position where it was on offer - and, as something I've never had, wouldn't randomly buy one (at £1-2 each). I've only ever had a spoon of mango chutney with a curry - and then it's not always available.
Not had avocado either. No desire to.

As for sniffing stuff - if you've no idea what they smell like, sniffing wouldn't work.

It does with mango as it either smells of mango or nothing!

I used to work nights. Would not want to do it again!

No, I won't drive when I feel like that. He gets a taxi.

I'm really ( despite how I drove you back to the station) respectful of other road users and consider driving a privilege not a right. I won't do it if I feel at risk of being unsafe. So of I feel 'eye-ey' or anything. Every eye clinic and neaurology appt etc I've double checked about my driving licence because while it will make life harder for me with out it, I'm aware that my wants don't come first in that decision.

I used to ( for about nine months ) do a very long commute (over two hours) in a very old car on about four hours sleep. It was NOT safe and in retrospect I am angry with myself and those around me who said nothing. I remember at times, thinking ' maybe if I just close one eye they'll stop stinging.....' :o:mad: Burning the candles at both ends risked other people as well as myself. Not proud of that at all.

I have a bit of a sleep problem, so I need to take great care when driving not to fall asleep. It's an issue with long journeys, which I either avoid or break up into short stretches.

By the way, we were really grateful for your driving us back to the station, which was very good of you at the end of a long day.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Yeah, but it would not have chosen to ignore speed limits and road markings really! ( straight down the middle of a bendy road to make it straight ......for others, you can see the road ahead in snatches)

    Poor doglet!

Fir has managed to keep me awake this long but he's off with the dogs now and I'm going to sleep. He said he liked chatting here this week.

    Good night :)

Walking the dog late at night is definitely neither a privilege or a right.:o
A break in routine tomorrow. We're going to a party 400 miles away.:)

    It'd better be good!

It's a family do. We found out we hadn't booked the car parking at the airport (was going to ne just over £40 for one night), so we booked it tonight and found it was just over half that price now. An advantage for people who like playing chicken, but that's not really us. :o

It's a bit of a stretch for a one-night stay, but we did something similar a few years ago when we went up north to buy a car.

We were horrified to find how expensive the train tickets would have been for us all to travel there and back for a weekend, even with a couple of months notice.

Driving's too slow an option, and driving back the day after the party would be dodgy with the new drink-drive limits that kicked in up there a month ago.

Don't know if it would work for you, but my trick for shorter breaks, especially weekends, is to park at the train station by the airport. Much cheaper and no walking.

The first 3 years after you pass your test in Aus the drinking limit is 0. You can't even have a bowl of trifle. Add to that a system of random breath testing where the cops put up a partial road block, often on Saturday and Sunday morning at about the sort of time a young person might be off to play sports or work a weekend job in a local store.

I will be buying the Generalissimos a breath testing kit when they start to drive.

Best to lead by example. The only kids I have known to get caught drink driving are the ones whose parents still do it. Every other kid I know wouldn't even think of it.
