I need some of those better ways of thinking today.

Just been feeling unhappy and anxious since hearing about the flight thang, just feels like the final nail. Insurance company are not very good, I had thought it was a premium product with nationwide flex plus but the case handlers are pretty random, never return calls and don't listen to my concerns and explain what is going on. Last night I didn't need a doctors letter saying I was for to fly, this morning I do. They have no interest in exploring options to get me upgraded flights and they were the ones who had no interest in trying to reschedule my original flights before they expired when that would have been the cheapest and best way to get us home.

Sorry if all my posts are me me me, I apologise for finding it hjard to empathise with you lot when I feel so far away.

Pfffft! ATM you're the one having stuff go wrong, so you get to take a turn brining your woes to the NPT. You've listened sympathetically when the rest of us have taken turns at it. You're entitled to our support now.

I have some avocado - not a whole one, because I had a bit of it last night, and I'm planning on eating part of what's left for lunch - but it's a large one, so you're welcome to some of it for your breakfast if that would help. :)
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

35th wedding anniversary coming up. On the plus side, DW does not like coral, and is still in mourning for her mum, so unable to accept gifts. Bunch of flowers it is, then. Very MSE.

Bunch of flowers aren't gifts? On the grounds that you all benefit from them? In which case would a holiday fit the bill?

I hope you realise you are meant to buy these presents and store them up to give at a better time.

michaels, in your shoes I would feel some relief at getting home, economy travel or not. That is said as someone who appreciates business class seats. I can also see the benefit of a direct flight when you are not on top form, dragging through an airport with little ones in tow is not fun.

If all else fails, tweet the insurer. Response to tweets from companies is generally very good.

I predict a time, within the next 2 years, when companies use twitter in a more selective manner. Tweeting when you have thousands of followers will get a better response than a tweet from someone with only a handful of followers. At the moment any tweet seems to generate a top class response. In the mean time, the fastest way to a companies image conscious heart seems to be twitter.

We have two left, so that's one for each of you.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Bunch of flowers is a gift for the home, apparently.

"I hope you realise you are meant to buy these presents and store them up to give at a better time." - Really?!!! Help!!!! I think I'm having a panic attack.

Oh I love avocado too, but we never seem to be able to get decent ones. They are hard as bullets, and then go off before they go ripe. :( Any handy hints from any Nice People where we might find proper ripe avocados?
