Trying to look to the positive, at least once you've got the journey out of the way, you'll all be back home :)
    ?

I don't know anything about the insurance side of this but I'll be relieved for you when you get back. Being so ill in a foreign country's not my idea of fun.

At worst, economy isn't as bad as it used to be. My advice if you have to go cattle? Get some diazipam and a couple of glasses of wine inside you.

Agreed. The no boozing on antibiotics rule is worth checking on (assuming you feel well enough to risk that;)).

I really, really can't understand the appeal of Russell Brand.

There are women who are attracted to Russell Brand?????? That idea had never so much as crossed my mind.

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

No, but there are plenty of young, impressionable, brain-dead, probably drugs-addled morons, wanting their 15 minutes of fame who think that anything celeb = shiny = riches = 15 minutes of fame..... so he wins just on exposure to the masses.

Looks aside, I've never understood the point of him.

He writes well. His bookywooks are quite entertaining. His radio show podcasts were as well.
I went off him when he (and that grinning simpleton Jonathan Ross) made the Andrew Sachs phone call. Crossed a line there.

What makese slightly queazy is the way that Sachs couldn't let this incident from 2008 die. I saw him interviewed for BBC Breakfast last year, speaking about his autobiography. That was all they spoke about, essentially. He was just over the top, considering it should have gone away from our view a long time ago.

Just gooogled him and the second entry is an excerpt from said autobiography, published in the Daily Mail from Feb 2014. A full breakdown of the whole affair.

"To be honest, the whole Brand/Ross saga remains a painful experience that we’d very much like to put behind us. But it keeps resurfacing."

Funny how things resurface when we keep talking about them. I didn't know what they said to his answerphone, but I know now, because AS was early so devastated, he shares it in said autobiography. And puts it in the papers to sell said autobiography. Articles which are accompanied by photographs of his grandchild posing in a rather provocative manner. And the words:

"Extracted from I Know Nothing by Andrew Sachs, published by The Robson Press on February 20 at £20. © Andrew Sachs 2014. To order a copy for £16.99..."

So angry and upset by it's refusal to go away that he parades it for cash.

    Cynical.

Not enjoying the most fabulous time. I have so much work and responsibty that it is affecting sleep. I'm perfectly capable of finding my way to the land if nod, but if I'm woken, that's it. Brain goes into full gear and it takes hours to get back to sleep.

I've had one unbroken night's sleep this year. Twozerdog woke me at 1am to go to the toilet and then hunt around the garden. He's been merrily snoring again for nearly two hours. Fed him too late, I think.

He wants to go out again. I don't know if he has a problem or if I'm creating a rod for my back.

Edit:. Was greeted by a perfectly healthy, freezing cold poop in the hall. He was clearly more interested in snooping around the back fence for furries than doing his business, earlier. I haven't been able to smell since Xmas.

    I despair.

Channel 5 - a neighbours from hell programme started at 7pm

LOL, classic quote "... sometimes I bought a bag of turnips - and gave him a turnip ... never used to charge him...."

Someone I used to work with was on that :)

Believe it or not, she's a social worker; very eccentric, but very professional and good at her job, too. A very talented artist, too :)

    Oh DoozerGirl.

I am so sorry you have having such a tough time. Is Doozer away? Is there nobody else who could let Twozerdog out for you? I used to find that I could get back to sleep if woken briefly, but only if I didn't have to open my eyes, let alone get out of bed.

    Sending hugs

    Sorry to hear that Doozergirl.

I have had exactly this problem in the past and find that the World Service or a podcast played quietly lets me quieten down my thoughts and drift off back to sleep.
