I'm having a 'why did I buy a house?/ why did I buy a house that needs doing up' day.
Made initial enquiries about fencing for the front garden. Think I might have to sell a limb. And that doesn't even include getting shot of the crummy wall that is currently there.

It is tough - and you get quoted the "single woman/living alone" price, or the sucker's price at 3x what others would get asked.
Round here we call it post code pricing.
Tradesmen seem to drive over the bridge connecting our area to rest of the town and triple the price.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I'm tired too but don't know when to get a nap in. Not dark enough to put birds in yet, so loitering in hope I'll have time for a good nap after that.
I knew I had my timings all wrong today. I am dropping now, absolutely dropping. Fir is going to have to perform some kind of miracle to keep me awake for any length of time once he's home. I reckon I'll drive to the station and climb into the passenger seat and nod off.0 -

Oh yes, today was just the start of the pricing up so I'm definitely at the point of asking for what I want. Unfortunately I don't think that is going to be the expensive bit (that'll be the labour and getting rid of the old wall) which would be pretty much the same whatever fencing I went for.
Not had the 'single woman' premium yet, as they don't know I'm single. They might not know I'm female yet either as they got my name wrong (road name as surname) - it was online.0 -

My fear is always that I will nod off whilst driving. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

No, I won't drive when I feel like that. He gets a taxi.
I'm really ( despite how I drove you back to the station) respectful of other road users and consider driving a privilege not a right. I won't do it if I feel at risk of being unsafe. So of I feel 'eye-ey' or anything. Every eye clinic and neaurology appt etc I've double checked about my driving licence because while it will make life harder for me with out it, I'm aware that my wants don't come first in that decision.
I used to ( for about nine months ) do a very long commute (over two hours) in a very old car on about four hours sleep. It was NOT safe and in retrospect I am angry with myself and those around me who said nothing. I remember at times, thinking ' maybe if I just close one eye they'll stop stinging.....' Burning the candles at both ends risked other people as well as myself. Not proud of that at all.

Yes - I remember you saying you liked the wall
Not sure, but I'll definitely be finding out now!
Edit: actually the builder who's not managed to send me a quote (lost in the post twice...) was going to include that in the quote. Before it fell down, but I don't think that would make much of a difference to the price tbh. Saves them taking that bit down to put it back up again0 -

We just buy ready-to-eat avocados at the supermarket. I choose carefully - give them a squeeze.
For milk, I reach to the back of the shelf, to get the latest possible sell-by date. For avocados and mangos, I look for the earliest sell-by date.
Mangos are the easiest fruit to buy. Give them a big sniff and they should smell strongly of mango. If they don't they're not ripe.
The best mangos I've found in the UK have been Alfonso mangos from India sold in really crappy convenience stores in south London. They are in season in September. We get awesome mangos in Australia in the run up to Xmas.0
