The Gregg's steak bake is far better than their sausage rolls, which just make me feel sick.

I can't imagine ever eating either - all sounds dubious and following Nikkster's description of pink goo, even less promising:eek:
gathering seemed to reek of desperation, disaffection and alcohol.

I'm sorry that made me laugh - glad you could escape early to the safety of a cucumber sandwich.:rotfl:

    Last night, during the night
Bet that sounded horrendous! I hope nothing precious is damaged/broken.

I don't think I've ever had a cheesy football. Our food never varied much, there was an opinion of "we've enough food already, we don't need more", meaning we tended to stick with things we knew/liked, rather than continually trying new things. Although, to be fair, we did have Vesta curries in the 70s occasionally.

My family added stuff in with out stripping it out, meaning left overs lasted for ever but didn't necessarily go so well, but couldn't be dropped for sentimental reasons. A couple of years ago I stopped the madness and stripped it right back. We had some of the family favourites as separate meals around the time. I think its much nicer tbh. Now we have fewer people ( my family always had large Christmases with lots of people which is lovely too) we also only have a goose, not a goose and a turkey, or a huge turkey. A goose a lone doesn't go far, a big one with a lot of people leaves no leftovers ( and leftovers are the best bit ) and turkey just isn't my first choice.

This year I'm making a stuffing I've not tried before. It works or it doesn't. :). The world doesn't end either way. I'm also going to prepare the goose in a way I've not tried before. We get the geese from a wonderful place. They are really good, it will be hard to ruin it. :D

I think we'll have lost some CDs. Hope fully they are mainly mine. It did sound bad, we thought it was the ceiling underneath the old bathroom, or Rapnoc ( the visiting cat) falling off the roof and taking tiles with him/ her. So 'glad' it was our stuff not a cat. Unfortunately it pushed another bookshelf and it toppled, so that needs some tlc and restacking today.

Fir , and his family, stack papers, rather than file, / ring bind them . IMO this doesn't help much, but makes sense to him/them.

As a happy result the first aid kit turned up, it must have been on the top of that shelving unit!

It sounds like an awful mess to have to clear up, but nobody was hurt, and that's the main thing.

Edit: that sounds incredibly trite, but it's true nonetheless.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

That's good then. I used to have one small plastic box with some plasters in and some flu powders. While I was moving about I also accumulated another box of flu powders, 3-4 boxes of Ibuprofen - and a whole raft of new boxes of plasters as I suddenly found myself with a blister when I was out and about walking. Now I've gathered them all together again the box I've got is larger than I'd like and it needs a proper home where I know it is - which, right now, means under the Xmas tree :)

We have a drawer of some stuff in the kitchen bit of the cheese room. Then a chest :o of stuff related to my needs upstairs which covers most bases. I don't worry that much about plasters tbh. I know I should, but they are a fuss, I need to wash my hands so often I'm replacing anything on my hands so often, and anything else I find I can just keep clean fairly easily. I don't worry about scars and so by the time I'm thinking about covering something I probably need those butterfly strips or stitches. ( butterfly things are incredible though). We have a nother human first aid kit in the feed room and a house pet first aid kit in the lobby. Bad ankle usually gets a horse bandage on it if it needs support. Not as sleek as a tubigrip but doesn't lose tension over time like tubigrip do and its more adaptable than a ankle support. I can bring it up the calf if I need to, or give my self more or less tension, if I'm swollen. and I find it as easy to do, just takes a wee bit longer.

We usually have a turkey but this year we are having a turkey plus a hog roast joint as me and dad have finally admitted that we are not that keen on turkey and only suffer it as it is once a year.

Mind you, I wanted beef but got outvoted and decided it might be best anyway as everyone else likes beef cooked to oblivion and I like mine slightly less cooked.

There are 8 of us for Christmas dinner this year, the smallest number for a long time as James is staying at uni over the Christmas period due to being on duty (SR duty). He is however coming home for the grand total of 23 hours over new year, home 1pm New years eve, leaving to go back to uni 12pm New years day, all via train...hope the trains run well!

Train ticket was only £30 return (using his travel card) which I paid as he was desperate to get back, even for a short time but is a little short on the cash stakes right now. I personally thought that was a pretty good figure bearing in mind when he is travelling and it was worth it as dad is going downhill fast right now and we don't know how many more opportunities James will have to see his grandad.

I am actually very well organised this year, all presents purchased and wrapped already, so no rushing around like a headless chicken in the run up to Christmas trying to complete the task. Amazing feeling to be so prepared, I'm usually tearing my hair out by this point whilst getting depressed at all the wrapping that needs to be done (I tend to get lots of cheaper things so it looks like loads has been spent...unfortunately, it means lots of blooming parcels :rotfl:)
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Pastures, I recall you mentioning that some of your distant forbears had been in trouble with the law... I thought you might like this page about seasonal lawbreaking!

I've just realised I have a few days annual leave to take this year. So I'm on holiday as of now :D

Edit: my manager has just confirmed I'm now on holiday, and my out of office message is on :j

I never used to. I'd often have an old pack kicking around somewhere, then, when I moved down this way and did more walking in inappropriate shoes I found I was getting blisters and cuts.

Just this week, too, I've found a bizarre cut on my finger. I don't know how I did it at all - but I did manage to knock the scab off when I was getting dressed the other morning, causing bright red blood to start dripping everywhere, so I did have to put a plaster on that. I tend to put a plaster on for 3-4 hours, until any bleeding's stopped. I've probably got enough plasters here now for life. A couple of boxes of mixed sizes and a couple of boxes of plaster strips.

My flu powders are probably out of date, but I'd rather have some out of date ones in the house in case I feel a bit under the weather, than have none as I wouldn't be able to go out and get any - and I am not unwell often enough to bother going to buy a new pack as they'd probably also be out of date before I got round to using them.
