In Australia we put criminals in prison. In the UK they get given a council flat and apparently free rein to behave as appallingly as they like with the approval of their peers.0 -

However they aren't unheard of outside of them they make an alternative to other hats and no one turns a hair. Sometimes they can be bought at the big agri/ equestrian shows, or used to be able to be.0 -

I somehow associate them with prewar /postwar movies especially a certain George Coles character.:;)There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

I stay with my Mum for most of the time and spend a couple of nights with a mate in the SW. Sometimes I also spend a night with a mate in London but he's now got very young kids so I don't really want to impose myself on him so I'll get the train back in the evening when we go out for a few beers.
We're going to Paris for a couple of nights on the way back to Aus and we're renting a place through Air BnB.0 -
I have developed terrible man flu. However, I bravely fought through it and spent the day making and fitting a new loft hatch and went to the co-op which had 20 sausage rolls yellow stickered to 39p.

I like the coop bagged sausage rolls, packs of 5 I think. Sausage rolls are best hot, from the oven, on a plate, with chips and beans.0 -
Been feeling dreadful all day, but we did go to lottie to check it's all OK to be left for a week or so. OH had chest infection so we not been there at all since end of November. Some of the tunnels needed a bit of attention, and the chairs had mostly blown over, so we've moved them up by the shed. Glad we made it down there or I'd be worrying over Christmas!
We were the only people there, so soon as OH had sorted out the tunnels we came home.
Feeling a lot more cheerful since we managed to catch the second pass of ISS over. I went onto front drive and waved! :rotfl: I know they won't see, but it seems so amazing that there are people up there that I always go out and wave!
Also pleased managed to find last year's (already written) gift tags, so now we can finish the parcel wrapping tonight while watching Antiques Road Show and The Apprentice. Tomorrow OH is going to visit his Mum in Nursing Home and also deliver the parcels to DD2 and her family. I'd like to go too, but there may be too much to do here still... We'll see in the morning.
Last night we put on Twin Peaks DVD while we were wrapping stuff, it was a mistake, as we ended up not getting to bed till about 1.30 am, which prob accounts for why I've been feeling so carp today. At least we got the final parcel from the nameless bookshop delivered this morning, so that's wrapped and ready to go tomorrow!
Feels all wrong to not have a tree, but with OH being laid up for so long we couldn't get one. Looked for cheap artificial one yesterday, but cheapest was £49.99  so decided we'll just have to give it a miss this year. Not much space in living room anyway, too full of stuff from old home waiting to be looked at, then found a place for or Freecycled or Oxfamed.0 -
