I've just given my parents their main Christmas present. I'd warned them I might not be back until Christmas morning (as I might have been handing in a half-written thesis on Christmas Eve). I think they were expecting a complete no-show (my bro is definitely not attending). We're having a Strictly party0

How is the thesis?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

I've enjoyed the past couple of weeks off from it, being a normal person. Will pick it up again in the next few days... That was another, more selfish reason for the change of scenery.
It isn't being handed in this year, anyway.0 -

Oi! Not so much of the! If you've sent it to your supervisor and he hasn't sent it back yet, then you get to have time off it without guilt. Glad you've been enjoying the break. Make the most of the freedom, and then you'll be in a better frame of mind to return to it with renewed vigour when the time comes.

Just couldn't face it after the emotional crescendo a few weeks ago, then there have been the seasonal distractions such as work party, urge to hibernate etc. Have had a nice few weeks back in the real world though

The same. Think Caroline is probably the best dancer, but not sure who deserves to win the most.0 -

Welcome back!
Thank you for the welcome. May you visit Sydney on a 45C day. In a suit and tie.PasturesNew wrote: »You do realise it's not started yet ... it's the warmest December in the warmest autumn after the hottest summer... EVER.
You wait ...
I think the phrase you are looking for is 'least cold' not 'warmest'.put a vest on .
Any way spooning Lir will soon warm you up.
The cold will make it feel like Christmas.
Today on this 'warm' day I wore a t-shirt, long sleeved t-shirt, thin cotton jumper, hoodie and one of those thick waterproof hiking fleece things and was struggling when the wind blew. I had my Akubra on too.
Thankfully I found a pub that sold a reasonable cheap Rioja and had a lovely fireplace. Plus the car I hired has heated seats.0 -
