we have a land line and it is essential. We do not get mobile signal in the house, occassionally enough to text.We did switch from BT which was costing £81 per month for phone and rubbish broad band, to Plusnet which is £26 for the same rubbish service.

There are currently five of us in the bed, its toasty. ( pink whistley has disappeared somewhere) But if gen comes I'll have to put some clothes on.

PN is right though Gen, it just feels colder to you. Its been mild. Fir did birds and horse check in just dressing gown and wellies this morning.

We're having a very lazy morning. Going out tonight. One of the siblings has a book out ( their first book) and we want to try and order a copy from a book shop in a show of support.

Do all NPs have a landline phone at home? I know that it's good for credit ratings , but I seem to have heard that many people aren't bothering nowadays and just keep charging a mobile.

reason I'm asking is I've got a Virgin bundle with a landline that gives free weekend landline calls. We can easily rattle up to £20 of extra phone charges per month from weekday calls/ calls to mobiles, which are all 8p per minutes (or more).

    I was wondering about
    a) getting a cheap PAYG phone for outgoing calls using the 3-2-1 tariff
    b) getting a phone and Virgin's £5 per month SIM (250 mins + 3000 texts)

We can't get rid of the landline, which we'll use for weekend, emergency and incoming calls.

Does anybody here do anything similar?

I have the plusnet value bb & landline deal which is great for free evening calls as well as the weekend ones. But bb is only 10gb per month.

I've been looking at their other deals for more bb, but lose the evening calls so would have to pay plus 15p connection charge!

For the time being I'm sticking with the current deal and using my 321 mobile when needed.

Well, given its the latest craze here and you won't get the chance to wear it at home, sounds like you need to go buy yourself a Christmas jumper.

However as all the others have said, it's actually not that cold here.

I'm guessing that you came now, a) because it is Christmas and b) because it coincides with the six week school hols there. However if you do it Spring/Autumn you don't feel the difference as much. Unless of course you are mad like the Chewy family and going to Brissie, in which case their winter is like a British summer. My uncle would come in our Summer from Maryborough then complain it's too cold.

We use FaceTime or Skype for quite a lot of international calls with family.

We have a landline and are actually considering going back to BT :( for the thing where you can get on to BT Internet where you are near it. This is mainly for RP's benefit. Only place I occasionally wonder is when fir' strain is delayed, but have checked and no BT access there according to macputer, which is fine....I read with no distraction. Delicious.

I have a landline but I need a new phone after Jasper (the cat) broke the old one. I didn't really use it for calls out as I have a good amount of call allowance on my mobile but I do miss it sometimes, especially for the calls not covered by my mobile allowance (I go to my parent's house and use theirs!)
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I have a landline - and I use it. I prefer a proper phone to make/receive calls as I find mobile phone sound hit/miss whether I can hear what's being said.

We have a landline for the same reason as PN, mobile calls keep dropping in the house. Shame really as we have all have unlimited calls on our mobiles.

I pay the extra (£5 a month I think) to include calls at anytime including 0845 etc. We are all very well trained to not use the home phone for mobiles. I rarely have an extra charges on the landline bill. We also like the smart-talk app that lets you use the mobile from abroad through the app at whatever the charge from your home phone would be (basically Voip like skype, but the quality is high) so OH phones home for free from abroad.
