So glad you enjoyed that PN! I thought it fun because of the seasonal aspect. They sure did like to chuck people in jail for the slightest excuse back then! I guess they were lucky not to be transported to Australia (sorry Gen!) or hanged!
I must get onto my Family Tree stuff again - have full access international, but Life Keeps Happening, and don't seem to have managed to get onto Ancestry recently. Should prob cancel, but then it's not there if you get a few minutes... If you have anyone you want to try check out, PM me and I'll do my best to find stuff out.
I was quite entertained when the Wales Newspapers went online to find my Great Grandfather was a seedsman, and advertised that his seeds were locally produced and thus useful to grow locally (Dolgellau, or Dolgelley as it was back then). Hmm, now realise he was my Taid (spelling? not good on Welsh spelling!) and I did actually meet him, but don't remember much as would have been under 5 at the time. He and his wife lived with my Grandparents back then. I have a few photos, including GGM holding me as a babe in arms! :rotfl:0 -
Do you have a pretty stick to use? Falling in the house is bad enough, falling outside must be terrifying.
It doesn't sound like overkill to reduce the risk of falling, at some point it may be you suffer more than embarrassment. I would like to buy you a pretty stick, if you will use one.
Thank you, I have a stick.
I have a green stripey adjustable height stick.
.
I have to have adjustable height because of different shoes and also impact of posture:o on different days. I really want a see through twisted lucite stick but they aren't height adjustable and fir doesn't much approve of me having something called a 'pimp stick'. I thought of it more like a unicorn stick or a wand or something.
. But as its not adjustable I didn't get one. So I won't be having one. It doesn't fold either. I have also thought about a staff, a beautiful wooden staff, but in think I might look like a mad witch with one, and it might be too heAvy on weaker days, and certainly not convenient and folding.
I'm not sure having another stick would make be more likely to carry it. You've seen me, I'm more than adequately mobile often.

Some advice my sibling heard/mentioned to me re walking aids (in a conversation about mother's mobility) was that one should always use something that's "one more" stage than you think you're at. People are embarrassed to use sticks, walking frames, etc, but they are there so people don't go 4rse over t1t.
For me because things are changeable my need can change over a day. Someone who can stride out or even run a little carrying a frame that might seem prudent later would be hampering, both physically and most crucially psychologically. ATM my focus is on remaining and increasing access out and I feel that the stick ( it also folds) might have to in my bag more often than I'd like but its really important I feel as free as I can. I already feel laden down by the junk of adulthood....wallets, keys, phones....sometimes you just wanna go out. The more I think about what ifs the less I personally feel inclined to risk it which results in me taking fewer 'risks' and making less effort and becoming someone I don't recognise
:D. For goodness sake I wear sensible shoes nowadays :(.
Its a good plan in stable situations I can see, but in mine I feel its not applicable.0 -
Advice NP.
Could be random occurance or related.
I bought a wifi and air-print printer.
Problem 1: Set it all up and now my ipad doesn't see the broadband router unless it is in the same room as the router. Could the printer's own wifi be interfering with the router's wifi?
problem 2: (2 days after printer installed) internet went down and came back having forgotten all its security settings, works fine but has lost its security settings. Of course I can set it all up again, but wondered why that would happen?
Re: problem 1 - you've probably tried this already but if not switch the printer off and see if things improve?0 -
T5 galleries, 's OK I suppose.
Have definitely lived through interesting times this week.I think....0 -
DD and DS have arguments that are very much like the stereotypical husband/wife rows where he is only seeing the practicalities and she focuses solely on the emotional subtext. I am trying to persuade each of them that learning to appreciate the other person's PoV will be excellent practice for resolving conflict with a hypothetical future spouse, but I don't think either of them is buying it, really.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Now that we have established that you are ok, can I recommend gadget insurance? Friends who are accident prone have this insurance from Amex (and you don't need an amex card to apply). Something like £15 a month for all your (& fir's) gadgets.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Although mine are crutches rather than sticks but I have decorated sticks before now for a wedding. I use fine materials like organza rather than stickers and paint and usually do my crutch for a couple of pounds. It's currently purple and black (in a candy stripe effect) but is due for a change, if only I could think of what to change to!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

At this time of year, how about tinsel? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
