I've gone for a more conventional 'I'm out of the office with no access to email, I'll reply as soon as possible after I return on whenever. Best wishes, Nikkster'.

I feel like I should have put more effort in now.

I try to put in a line wishing people a happy holiday if it's appropriate or, if I'm feeling cheeky, link to a nice picture of where I'm going.

Nobody ever notices stuff like that. Our department had a vote for who had done best at stuff this year. The department as a whole is about 20 people and I voted about 25-30 times for the 5 questions that the 5 people in my sub-team could reasonably win.

Nobody noticed that more votes were cast than voters, even when I said that we should Vote Early and Vote Often.

You are very blase at time lir, sounds painful and not because of the cost:(.

Sue if you are going down GDBs tinsel styling route, whack on some mistletoe as well, you never know your luck!

For London bods, this might be interesting

Medieval tube station map, some place I recognise, others have changed too much or perhaps don't exist. My knowledge of London isn't great tbh. Might need Control + to see it properly.

Thanks Bugs. I've just tried to plan a journey using it, but it says I need to use Ye olde Oyster card

At this time of year, how about tinsel?

Think it may look a little outdated come summer......

My decoration generally lasts a year or two rather than a few weeks, I'm far too lazy to do it any more frequently! :rotfl:

Edit - I also prefer smart and understated, more suitable for job interviews and meetings, rather than gaudy or over the top. I have a fun side but I want prospective employers/school officials etc to take me seriously.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

That's a great map, and I recognise quite a few of the local place names, but nothing like all. I see that St. Anthony's Leper Hospital has been renamed Archway for some reason.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I'll be using it for route planning next year - I fear the drivers' sat navs may explode:)

I'll be thinking of you, Pastures. I hope the visit to the dentist goes okay and that your Christmas won't be too stressful xx

bugs Thanks so much for posting the link to the tube map. I love it.

Trev Ye Olde Oyster indeed :rotfl:

lir i hope you're all right after your fall. I use a stick on occasion and it's such a blooming nuisance, so I'm not surprised you're reluctant to take one "just in case"!

So, to cous cous. Last night I made a recipe using it. It was actually the first time I'd used "proper" cous cous. In the past I've only tried the Ainsley Harriott ones.

Anyway, the packet said to allow about 35g of cous cous per person, and add "12 times the volume" of boiling water. Cous cous for 2 people came up to just below the 100ml mark in my measuring jug, so I dutifully added about 1 litre of boiling water, though I did think it seemed rather a lot.

I wasn't that surprised when the result was a bowl of water with the cooked cous cous completely submerged. It was fine after I'd used a strainer, but what would be a more sensible ratio of water to cous cous, please?

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Omg....no wonder they confuse people!

I just do it by eye I'm afraid ivy leaf, then feel the cous cous and if it feels done bite a grain to double check if fir isn't around to check for me. I do it in a glass bowl if possible so I can keep an eye on it...if the water has disappeared insanely quickly then I didn't put enough in, though in continues of course to steam as I cover it.
