Another one for just chucking water in and seeing what happens, either add a bit more or strain it.:)0

Splat went lir in the high street on the way to the hair dresser and out fell macputer and crack has gone my screen again. In its cover but the cover splayed open.
ouch ouch ouch.......another option is to always wear a really puffy, down filled coat so it takes some of the impact.PasturesNew wrote: »Well, I have stuff to do this morning - and I've got to pop and see mum and go to the dentist and stuff. Then it's Christmas, so I won't be around.
So this is a quick and sneaky "Happy Christmas" just so nobody wonders where I am in the coming days
I hope you all get stuff you like and eat things you want.
Apols for being AWOL for a while.......cousin from Canada came over to stay for a week and that, combined with a lot of work and the prep and being away for the clothes show conspired to keep me off the laptop at night times. Miss you guys' chat
I hope everyone is OK and I haven't missed any crisis'.
Welcome back to UK Gen, enjoy your trip.
This has to the 1st Xmas / NY in 30 years that we are actually having Proper Quality Time Off *Yay!*.
The weekend tagging onto Xmas day/ BD is great then just 2 days back in and off 31st until the 5th Jan.
Am doing a lot of entertaining but OH can help this time (rather than building a house etc) and I have a decent kitchen to work in for the 1st time ever.
Double !yay!0 -
Happy Christmas PN!
And safe travels to any other NP who are making journeys.
Thanks. We are going to the seaside for Christmas. My preference is to drive on Christmas Day, because the roads are surprisingly empty, but DW wants to go on Christmas Eve, and I fear it may be slow going. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
GOt IT
Pastures said you cannot fry pastry. I just thought of gyoza. I know its a dumpling, but technically the wrapper must be a type of pastry?
( still want to try frying what pn would think of as pastry though)
Ahahaha,
Just thought again of gnocchi fritti......a fried pastry, and the carnivale treats in Italy....deep fried pastry. Chiacchiere, cenci things like that. .......its all sounding more and more feasible to me. And I've seen things like crossovers between croissants and doughnuts on food network.0 -

Cronuts!
I'd have thought quite a few types of pastry could work in a pan. Puff pastry would be more tricky though.
From my time of ovenlessness I found that there were surprisingly few things that couldn't be cooked using a sandwich press instead of an oven (presentation wouldn't have been up to guest-standard, but was fine for me). Bet the same is true of a pan + lid.
Couscous: I cover with boiling water, cover and leave until the water is absorbed, and repeat if the couscous isn't cooked.0 -

Couscous? What's the point? Don't get it all.:o

I thought the same about couscous until my great uncle made me a fantastic taboul!. Softened my views somewhat. An old housemate of mine used to cook it, mix with ketchup and just have that“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0
