Professor Brainstawm's back on the telly. There was a version when I was a kid IIRC. This is pure nostalgia.
For more highbrow entertainment I found that the guy who made the squashed philosophers site has now made a site of the 100 books you're supposed to have read. That's one busy fellow. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Merry Christmas all. Peace and goodwill to all people. And may the festive season be happy for all, celebrants and otherwise.
Fir and I actually exchanged gifts ( we just give each other stocking fillers) on the solstice this year. It felt really lovely, though we've not done that before...we aren't usually together then for one thing!0 -

My mum and I went for a walk to the highest local point on the solstice. We've been meaning to go there for years, felt like a fitting day to go there.
As lir said, peace and goodwill to all. A very Merry Christmas to all who celebrate itFather Christmas has just visited my parents' house
P.s. hope all is ok Michaels, sounds like you're requesting some vibes...0 -
Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it. We're nearing the end of a turbulent year on the NP thread so hoping that everyone who has had it a bit tough this year manages to have a wonderful time with people who love them and who they love in return. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it. :xmastree:
Hugs and prayers for all who are unwell, whose family are unwell, or who are having a tough time in whatever way.
I have finally got everything ready that needs to be done before the day itself, will have to do some mundane domestic stuff tomorrow in order to be ready to see in-laws on Boxing Day. And all the presents I've ordered/bought for people I shan't see in person will arrive late. Considering my mental state I don't think I've done too badly, but wish it was a bit better.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Have a good one, guys
Thanks guys, he is rather good isn't he, although I am quite biased :rotfl:
Bearing in mind what the outcome could have been (first apgar was 3) he doesn't do too badly. We know he will not be able to drive due to his processing skills and independent living will be difficult due to his memory and personal skills but these problems can be 'overcome' with helpers.
I am still quite angry with the hospital, I knew something wasn't right (not just at 37 weeks but also whilst in labour) but I was ignored and treated like an over anxious mother. He should have been a C section hours before he was finally delivered, at the first sign of decelerations, the slowing heart rate (or in fact, when they discovered the meconium in the broken waters after that). Instead, it took his heart stopping before they finally rushed into action and all hell let loose.
Anyway, enough of this eek talk, I've cooked over 120 mince pies tonight, could be more but I lost count along the way :rotfl:
Merry Christmas everyone! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
