    Good luck with that CK.

I'd not vacuum the sitting room .... sounds like a lot of work and high potential for disaster. Sit on your bum and look at the floor thinking "somebody should vacuum that".

I had a relative who died tidying up ....

It seems to be incredibly dangerous to be one of your relatives. :)

Yes. Not many left now .... relative is an odd word... this particular person was my mother's cousin - and there were an awful lot of mother's cousins as her aunty got through men like nobody's business and one of her husbands had a whole raft of kids he brought into the marriage. All a bit confusing, but there were a lot of them.

From watching adventure series on telly in the 60s and 70s I thought the biggest risk factor for early death was to have your name in Simon Templar's address book as all his old friends seemed to get bumped off or died suspiciously.

Incidentally, proper toast should be cold so the butter doesn't melt.

I much prefer cold toast. Also, DW makes sandwiches with toast, not bread.

I think it is time for a confession, namely I am not very good at texting. In particular, xxx always comes out as www.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Many years ago, I read that you should plunge your nails into cold/freezing water for a fast dry.

    I do that.

You get a faster 'touch dry' but not a faster 'set' IME. But then I think I read it takes something like five hours to fully garden and I've never checked this, or tried to dent my nail varnish to see. I try to do toes an evening or so before so I don't put them I. Shoes before the five hours and dent them. I had beautiful fingernails up until lastweek when I trimmed them because they were getting too long, then they all broke. Why do fingernails allways break AFTeR you've trimmed them. Now I have ten broken nails ( and my thumb broken half way down so its going to be a pain for ages.

Cold? Unmelted butter? Surely the whole point of toast is getting the butter to melt? One of us must have heathen tendencies....

    I have 2 ways I like toast:

    1. Hot with melted butter (with the possible addition of jam/vegemite/Bovril/honey)
    or
    2. Cold and dried out a bit (not left on a plate to go damp on one side with loads of butter and some spread

    Got through another diet day.

I usually buy cheap bread, so the toast is just toast, not a toasty experience. But I do recall toast in olden days and I do like a thick, crusty, slice, that's golden brown and with the butter (well, marg) soaked into it :)

When I was growing up we did toast only on one side, under the oven grill. Being toasted two sides wasn't as nice, when encountered. I liked the way toasted on one side the bread's softer. Now I use a toaster so it's done on two sides.
