Fwiw I agree with you. But, if it means we're buying time to make a PROPER decision for the same price as two months car rental then I think its an ok option.
WE were very tempted with this that might suit you if your station and back journey is less than 25 miles:

I think it is congestion charge exempt and it has a very low tax rate if bought through a company making it very cheap for a new car over 2 years and cheap to run if you don't do more than 25 mile trips - we would have gone for it but they don't do a 7 seater hybrid.I think....0 -

Did it? Do views sing? I must live in a different world
I didn't like any of the designs, but I never do.0 -
It's going to be the first 40C day of our nascent summer today. Hot, hot, hot. A good day to be in an air conditioned office.0

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Most of my journeys are fewer than 25 miles I think. This is partly because I have become so disorganised and tired so I cannot do my normal round routes so easily though.....that's worth bearing in mind. If I had a better car there might be longer ones though, lol.
I don't mind paying for fuel for longer journeys though. Hmm. Too smart and weak for a four by four, too big for a small car.....does that matter? I might be better ignoring deal and looking smaller if that is what we decide. But fir might think other wise.0 -

I liked aspects of them all, but thought it was atrocious that someone could go through when the property owner was clearly unconvinced, they'd put things in she was adamant she hated and she said when they were done she hated and that other aspects were very nice but not her.
I liked that guy was thinking about light on the ceiling ( one of the things that would be the MOST important to me there would be that aspect of light reflection).
Tbh, I thought they all failed on really important points.0 -

OK - I was hoping it would work as a 4x4 and dog car, if it doesn't then it makes much less sense.I think....0 -

RP has/her own car, so if i understand correctly you only need one car between you and fir. However, you are torn between a fwd for the farm and a smaller car for general use. Is that it? So, one solution is to get two cars, rather than a compromise? I like your idea of hiring something, so you don't have to decide in a rush.
We ran two cars for a long time, but it's quite a lot of work to keep them both running. Just the paperwork is doubled up, for example. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
