Lir sorry to hear of the impending expense and decision making. I would disagree with Fir on th further repair. there comes a point where the reliability is such a critical variable that biting the bullet on a new vehicle is the only option. in your current health that could be now.
I feel mean as my car will have little use for some time but it is not a bales of anything car so I do not feel able to offer it, which is shaming when I am in receipt of such kindness from others,
Sue, sorry to hear about the heating. really hope it is resolved quickly.
Please don't feel mean, it would be too much of a responsibility.
Fwiw I agree with you. But, if it means we're buying time to make a PROPER decision for the same price as two months car rental then I think its an ok option.0 -

That means fir taking trailer test. Which is a: no mean guaranteed pass, ( nor the opposite, so far he hasn't towed.....) and also, when would he do it....?
Ladders aren't always handy in a field when a tree branch is coming down just too high to reach over a gate way, for example.......its not essential, but it does make life easier, those are the sort of things really miss the defender for, things that take ten minutes if you have one that take fifty if you don't because of getting stuff and taking it back and trying to work out how to do it.0 -

It would be unnecessarily pedantic to point out that you can't stand on the roof AND sit watching things at the same time. If I pointed that out, you might think I was taking the pee.
So, I have decided not to mention it.
At all.
No, not even a little bit.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
it is just getting better and better.
This morning I telephoned some neighbours to send apologies for an opera they were treating us to next week. this evening the lady of the house popped roundto offer to cook, drive, shop or her husband to help with heavy chores. She is aged 79 and her husband is in his 80's. OHs nephew called in unaware of the latest mishap. offered and set to, fetching and carrying. we now have logs in and and a lovely fire going.
Without meaning to sound trite, there are such good people about, but good does not make the news does it.0 -
Car expert friend has researched a small 4x4 and came up with a VW Tiguan.
I would of course recommend a 4x4 Nissan Juke.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Former is far too clean and tidy type of car.
Latter, I notice LOTS are available locally......lease ending from launch? Might be worth considering if we go two car route though not visually my first choice they seem a good height for stiff backs etc and easy to park etc.
Two cars open up a world of options......hybrids might be worth looking at for local runs. Do they avoid congestion charge any one know? I'll look that up.0 -
