Nah. I'm symptomless. We get infections all the time, most of which are completely harmless.

My dad recently had a scan that found some non-serrious lung damage, they said at some point probably long passed he must have had pneumonia - he had definitely not realised at the time.
    I think....

I have 'pleuratic changes'. When I laugh too much now I cough. :o.

I think the think is its quite surprising how 'easy' these awful things like bronchitis and pneumonia are to miss for a just a vile flue.

My Grandad got type II diabetes and had some kidney problems and some other old man stuff. He had a man MOT as a result.

They did a chest X-Ray and the doctor said to him, "That's odd, there's nothing in your notes about having had a heart attack".

Grandad had a think. Hmm... He never had a day off work but he did once get an early mark on a Friday afternoon. His boss went to him and said he looked terrible and should go home and go to bed for the rest of the day. His only time off work appears to be a half day for a heart attack.

Funnily enough it was a heart attack that got him in the end. He made it into his late 70s or even 80s which wasn't bad for a working class smoker 30 years ago.

Yes it is. When I caught pneumonia last summer, it took a while to get me admitted.
Local GP : "So you have 40C fever, yes...okay...take paracetemol, drink a lot, rest a lot bladibla"
4 days later I went to an NHS walk-in centre as it was Sunday...still high fever, that GP also prescribed the all-curing paracetamol.
Couple of days later I got so fed up we called 999, ambulance man took me to St Peters in Chertsey, and X-ray showed pneumonia plus a partially collapsed lung.

:eek: Goodness Wheezy, what a good thing you went to A & E in the end!

Spirit so sorry to hear about Mr Spirit, what a horrible thing to happen! What great neighbours you have though :A

SingleSue I hope you're starting to feel better today. Mr ivyleaf takes gabapentin; he does drowse a bit, but only when he's sitting down at home. Fortunately it doesn't stop him driving. He too needs to be on stronger painkillers, but won't, as it would stop him driving so then he wouldn't be able to go anywhere much.

    Generali Wonderful news

lostinrates I love the hire car song :rotfl: How did the cleaners get on?

Well I think they did well ivy leaf. They work fast yet very thoroughly. They were shocked at how 'little ' they achieved in The time but I thought they did very well. Its a very difficult house to clean. They'll see over a period of weeks I think, that its just how it goes here. You could throw 35 hours a week at it here and stay seeing more to do.

As I understand it (so likely to be complete BS...) pneumonia/ bronchitis aren't particular bugs, so isn't something you 'catch' per se - more a condition that develops from a lung infection that e.g. isn't cleared. So perhaps you start with 'flu, and it's particularly nasty or goes on a bit too long and you end up with a bit more severe tissue damage/ inflammation. And before anyone realises, it's 'pneumonia' or 'bronchitis'. It's a subtle difference, but I won't let that stop me being a science pedant. (Edited to add: Apologies in advance for that being shown up as nonsense!)

I expect that there are certain bugs that are more likely to lead to pneumonia etc though.

Mainly though - that sounds terrible Wheezy. As ivyleaf said, good job you got yourself to A+E!
